SOURCE: it froze
I just had the same problem, and after a call to Sansa, it's fixed. Here's what I did:
1. Hold the Power Off/On position for about 20 seconds.
2. It should turn off.
3. Then go to the main menu, and choose "Settings"
4. Scroll down and choose "Format," then "Yes." This will clear off all songs/playlists, but you should be go to go from there.

Same exact problem.....What got it working again was this. Plug the usb cord into computer first. Then while holding the the Fuze's power button in the ON position, plug the cable into the bottom of the Fuze. This was the only thing that worked for me.
SOURCE: my sansa fuze froze up
hold the off switch for 10 seconds untill the screen goes black, then try to turn it on
Push the power switch up as far as it will go and see if the blue ring on the front of the player lights up.
The Fuze's power button is not a traditional button but a slider, so if you did not push the slider up all the way, this may be the only reason it was not powering on.
Reset the Fuze by pushing up on the power switch and holding it in the up position for 10 seconds.
Try to power on the Fuze again after it has fully rebooted.
Connect the Fuze's USB cord from the Fuze to a USB port on your computer.
You should see a yellow charging light illuminate and the battery symbol blinking on the Fuze's main display.
Once the battery stops flashing, the Fuze is fully charged and you can try to power it on again.
hope this helps
