I had a similar thing happen to me...the video would not come one when I turned it on, but the audio would work, and it would play back tape fine. I happened upon the following solution (though I don't know how long it will last). I charged the camera, and then noticed it worked fine when the charger was plugged in. As soon as I unplugged it, the video would go black. So...I plugged it in, turned it to record, and unplugged it, and it worked! Almost like something got reset. I have no idea how long this will last, or if it means the battery is going...but, give it a try!

My camera when it turns on says ' Mode Dial Is not in the proper posistion ' I haven't dropped or anything! Will my warrinty cover it!?

Hi jayderehbein,

Make sure that the dial for selecting either video capture or image capture is not stuck somewhere in the middle , therefore a good idea would be try moving it to different positions and then back to the usual image mode and this message would go away ...

Hope this helps ..:) Your feed back would be appreciated.

SONY DSC-T1 CAMERA WHEN TURNED ON PREVIOS PICTURE SHOW UP FINE ON THE VIEW SCREEN BUT WHEN THE THE SELECT MODE SWITCH IS MOVED TO EITHER TAKE A NEW PICTURE OR TO MOVIE MODE THE VIEW SCREEN IS MOSTALLY...

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided it seems that the CCD Image Sensor of the Camera is affected. If the CCD Image Sensor is affected, the images captured may be discolored or with lines on it. Even if the CCD is affected, the previously captured images and icons of the Camera will display normally. You may try power resetting the Camera.

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
Also try resetting the Camera back to factory default: The RESET button is located at the lower right side of the control button. To reset the camera just press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
If the issue remains the same, then service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I CANT VIEW IN THE VIEWER WHEN IN THE CAMERA MODE. IT WORKS FINE IN THE VIDEO MODE.IT WILL TAKE PICS IN THE CAM MODE BUT NO SCREEN.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

SETTING FOR UNDERWATER PHOTOS USING A CYBER-SHOT DSC-W220

Under water scene selection mode in the camera is to capture the images of the objects inside the water like fish etc. It gives a clear picture of the objects under water unlike other modes. It does not mean that the camera is water proof and you can insert the camera in water and capture images. If you have any further questions, please reply. Regards

Fuji j10 - my mac wont recognise it even using finepix

I had the same problem with my camera & mac.  I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.

1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".

If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.

So much LCD trouble...screen is blank/black

CCD sensor fault ( not outputting anything so no pictures captured ). Have the sensor replaced but try to have it done free of charge. Sony does replace them free of charge but you have to check with them ( not all models with this fault are repaired free of charge ).
