I have a craftsman air compressor model number 921.153101 that won't pump-up over 40 pounds

Its probably a oil less compressor so it could be the reed valves are bad or the piston rings are bad.

I have 2.5 Goodman heat pump, 3 yrs old, the sucsion pressure is 90 PSI, the discharge pressure is 180 psi. I am told the I have a bad compressor valve. Please, tell me how can I fix a bad compressor...

The piston is too large. Have a reputable heating and air technician install the proper size piston and this will correct the problem. Cost should be 150.00.

The compressor works up to about 45 psi and then it just runs and does not increase the pressure. How do I fix this?

This is indicative of bad reed valves in the pump head. The only way to fix it is to replace them.

My 1 hp. 12 gal. air compressor is not building air pressure the motor runs the pressure won't go above 20 lb.

It could be that the input air filter is badly clogged. I might more likely be that the Non-return valve on the air tank input is not sealing properly and not allowing the tank to build up pressure. This valve is at the end of the main pipe runs between the compressor and tank. It could also mean (less likely) that the poppet valves inside the compressor cylinder head are not sealing properly. Other faults could be worn rings on the compressor pistons or a bad seal between the compressor cylinder head and block.

To check the Non return valve allow compressor to build up some pressure and then loosen union nut on Non return valve. There should be some air released at first but should stop if valve is ok. If leaking remove valve and check for dirt and clean. If valve still leaks replacement is the only fix.

Air compressor will only build up to about 20 psi?

Usual cause is a bad check valve. This valve is usually right where the output from the compressor goes into the tank. Contamination, bad seats, and broken springs are common.

Another less common problem is a leaking cpmpression release valve. You can usually hear the escaping air from these.

I have a similar problem with the same compressor.

there is a check valve on the piston that has gone bad ,, i had the same problem on mine but a much bigger compressor and it was in the head on the piston on the intake side,, you need to get a gasket set and the valve and follow the directions and you will be fixed till the nest time
