This is a very common problem with this Dell model that's actually made by Samsung. Cause is bad deflection processor IC TDA9302. As the problem ususlly gets worse as the monitor warms up, you can try to verify by chilling the IC with freeze spray.

Our Panasonic model PTH 3778R has elongated its vertical size about 2 inches outside the screen limit. Is there a way of adjusting the vertical size?

Usually this means that a cap in the vertical circuit is starting to fail. Are there any other symptoms at all? Does the height seem stretched more at the top?

Top of screen disappeared...cant see score of game

The Height adjustment is off... look in the back of the TV set, it has some knobs in the back, one should be vert.lin for Vertical Linearity adjustment, and there is another call Vert.Hgt. for Vertical Height adjustment. try adjusting the Vertical Height first with someone watching in the front of the big TV to see if the top comes back into view, you might have to adjust the knob very slowly one way then the other way, to make this adjustment. If it doesnot adjust take it to a TV shop to get it repaired.
Good Luck.

The screen is stretched there is nothing distorted

What kind of monitor? They can all be adjusted for width and height by using the buttons along the bottom of the screen. Often it can be confusing and a bit of a pain but look under the monitor menu for 2 sets of icons that look like 2 boxes on top of each other both horizontal and vertical. That is how you adjust it.

CRT Monitor and

The pot (variable resistor / preset on the circuit board inside the monitor) in the horizontal sync section needs cleaning, replacing & adjusting. but before that try the horizontal adj on the front panel of the monitor. Every monitor (digital or analogue) has it. Only if it doesn't clear the problem, try opening the monitor. Be careful so as not o venture too close to the EHT transformer.
Also make sure to degauze the CRT by earthing it (after switching it OFF) before toching any components inside. Also when you adjust the preset, make sure to use a highly insulated flat screw driver and wear heavily insulated rubber / PVC soled shoes because you'll have to adjust it with the monitor Powered ONonly then you'll be able to see the results. For your convenience, put a mirror in front of your monitor when you adjust the preset on the circuit board. Also make sure that you don't turn the preset very fast or put excess pressure on it as it may brea causing further damage to the circuit board.

Better still, if you don't wish to go deep into all this stuff, get it repaired by an authorised technician.

Adjusting vertical height

I looked for info for your the Mct-2051 & imagine my surprise that Magnasonic not only doesn't have a manual for your model they don't recognize the model #. Excuse my sarcasm.

If MCT-2051 is not a typo, then the closest I could find was an MCT-2053 & there was no mention of a vertical height adjustment by software control. From my past experience this adjustment can only be performed by a TV tech because you need to access the inside of the TV.

The fact the picture has shrunk this much means that the vertical height driver is failing & eventually you will see nothing but a vertical line, stretched across the screen. Which will mean, that do to Magnasonics' lack of support, you'll be out of luck.

When shopping in the future for a TV try to stay with name brands who will support their products.

By the way, where did you hear that you could adjust the VH utilizing the remote? That could possibly be a function of digital device like a computer monitor, not an analog device like your TV.
