A cd rom sometimes as a release clip under the front cover. But most do not as if theres no disc in it buy a new one unless you wanna take it apart to see if a belt is bad or a broken gear.

Eject imac might be stuck?

How I do it: Depending on your exact model, there should be a very small hole located near the CD tray - usually below the tray. You may have to pull the bezel door/flap open to find it (see image). CAREFULLY take a paper clip end, for example, and push gently (but firmly) into the hole while the computer/CD-ROM drive is off. That should force the tray to open a bit and you can pull gently open with your fingers from there.

My cd rom drive has power but when you try to eject the tray it won't go out...my laptop brand is HP PAVILION DV7-1135NR ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC

There are two ways to open the CD drive door ifthe button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD drivemay be faulty and needs replacing.

E Machines T3302. DVD will not eject. In hitting the eject button, or right clicking on e-drive for DVD, and clicking on "eject", it sounds like it is trying to eject, but it won't eject....

On the dvd rom drive sound slike it catching on something on the inside stoppin git from ejecting you will have to use a flat head screw driver poke it from the top and very gently pry it open while pushing the eject button as soon as it ejects you can then remove any cds inside it and you can remove the dvd rom drive bezel and close it if it opens and closes freely while this dvd rom bezel is off then the piece of plastic you took off it is slightly made wrong you can get these bezels cheap or by finding an old rom drive and removing that one to replace with yours. any additional questions please use the comment box below Kronoguy

CD in stuck in the computer and I can't get it out using the eject button. How do I get it to come out?

hi,
its too simple. you dont need to worry.. Check the front side of the CD ROM. you will find there one small hole. Now just take a thing, which is around the 4 to 6 inch (min is 4") long and can pass through that hole (for eg. take medium size U pin, and remove all bends and make it straight or long needle) Now insert this equipment in that hole and press. your ROM will eject...
Hope this has helped you ... Thanks....

On my HP pavilion mx 75 my hp cd--writer will not open any easy fiX?

Hello

Well, if there is a cd stuck in the device, you might fix this problem by force ejecting the cd/DVD.

Here is how we do this:
Take a small pin, push it into the small hole near the eject button on the CD/DVD rom. While doinf this, gently pull out the trey.

If this was a stuck cd, just take it out, if there was no dc/dvd in the rom, it might be a faulty eject button. Test this by going to My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD rom andd choose to eject.

If this does not work, i would suggest thatyou buy a new drive, because it is often much cheaper than to repair.

Let me know if this work.

Kind regards
Andrea

A dvd is stuck in the drive. It resists all attempts at removal including the ''eject cd'' command in Open Firmware. Can I manually remove it?

The iMac (Slot loading) computer's disc eject mechanism is electrical instead of mechanical. To eject a CD-ROM disc at startup that contains system software, press the mouse button until the computer ejects the disc. If the disc does not contain system software, wait for the iMac to start up and drag the disc icon to the Trash.

If either of these steps fails to eject the disc, push the drive's manual eject button with a small, blunt object like a paper clip. This button is located to the right of the CD/DVD slot as shown in Figure 1. The computer must be turned on to eject a disc in this manner.

ht3007_1.gifFigure 1 Manual eject button

Once the disc is ejected, it extends just beyond its center hole so you can remove it from the drive. If the disc fails to eject, while holding in the paper clip, use another CD to gently push against the inserted CD. This gentle pressure may help to release the inserted CD.

Important: After ejecting the disc with the manual eject button, you must restart the iMac in order for the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive to work.

CD-ROM not opening

The eject mechanism is driven by a seperate belt. You'r's is worn or broken, however, there is a small pinhole in the face of the player that you may stick a paperclip into and the tray will open.

Cd Stuck

Look at the "door" or "flap" of the cd rom drive. You should see a small round hole. If you straighten out a paper clip and insert it in the hole, push in gently, that will open the door and eject the disk. Please rate this if it helped you.

Opening disk drive compartment

If you stll have this problem, then you might try a couple of things..

Firstly, a boot of the pc usually will allow the drive to be opened.. But I'm sure you have tried that.. So, there are a couple of other ways.. There is a small pin hole in the front of 'most' CD & DVD rom drives. This is used for emergency situations when the cd will not 'dismount'. Be careful here. Use a paper clip & insert it gently into the pin hole. Only use a light pressure & you should feel a small switch plate. Gently push it with the (extended) paper clip. It will switch the open button & should allow the drive to open. Thirdly, go to 'Start' (button), 'My Computer' highlight the CD rom drive (left mouse click) then right mouse select 'eject' from the menu options.. Actually, if you are still reading, do this first. If it fails, boot the pc & try it again, before using the paperclip method. good luck. Rgds,
