This depends on how many available inputs you have on the back of the set. If you have more available you can just hook up the cable box composit (yellow, red, and white cables) if not you will need to replace the rf connector or tuner in the set. let me know if you need more help.

I need to connect my vcr/dvd combo unit to an Emerson HD TV so that I can record shows. Can you help me?

Most TVs only have audio out and several audio/video in connections. Unless you have an unusual tv, there is no option for a coax connection from the TV to a recorder.

Since this DVD recorder only has an analog tuner, you need to connect it to a set top box to record signals unless you are looking only at analog channel sources. If you are getting OTA, then a OTA digital-to-analog tuner is needed for most channels. (Only low power stations are still broadcasting in analog.) The cheaper ones that were available with the government coupon were SD tuners. HD content will need a separate tuner. If you have cable or satellite, check the signal (QAM is digital cable).

Next connect the coax from your analog source to the DVD recorder coax in and another coax cable to the coax out and the TVs coax in (if you want to - the pass through doesn't work with a set-top box for non-analog signals). Set the channel to the appropriate one (3 or 4 for the OTA d-t-a boxes; desired channel to watch for analog OTA or cable). Set the TV to channel 2, 3 or 4. Alternatively, use composite A/V cables from the set top box to the A/V Input of the DVD recorder and set the recording channel to Input 1.

Next connect A/V cables (composite or S-video) to the recorder's matching out to the TV A/V or S-video In. Set the TV to A/V 1 or Video 1 depending on the Emerson TV. You can watch tapes or DVDs. For better video quality on DVD playback, also connect component video cables from the DVD recorder Out to the TV's component in (if it is available). Then set the TV to the appropriate component video input when watching DVDs.

I hope this helps.

I have this TV that is a 2008 samsung but i cant hook up the cable line because i dont have a cable box i only have the coax cable line comming out of the wall in my liveing room, problem being is that...

If you have an older VCR, you can connect the cable to the vcr "in" , then connect the A/Vcables from the video and audio out of the vcr to the A/V on the set and put the set on av1 for source. If you don't have a vcr then you will have to get a box.

I have a comcast digital converter box and i need the manual to hook it up to a tv

Here is the easiest way...

1. Connect coax cable from the wall to the "Cable in" on the cable box.

2. Connect a coax cable from the back of the TV to the "To TV" output on the back of the cable box.

3. Tune your TV to channel 3

4. Plug the power cord into the back of the cable box and into a power outlet.

5. If you do not have a picture call Comcast and ask them to send a signal to activate your new box.

6. Enjoy your new programming.....

Good Luck...

My 42 inch sylvania plasma tv does not have a coax connection, so how do i hook up my cable to the audio/video connection? i know there is an rf converter to transfer audio/video to coax but i really...

Since your TV only has audio and video input jacks, you can connect those to audio and video output jacks on the VCR. Now connect the coax cable to the RF/ant input on the VCR and you'll have to change channels by using the VCR channel selector.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

My 32 inch LCD tv does not seem to work with my new cable box (digital) that I just traded in to get my cable bill down. Where does the coax go on the tv?

For best result when using digi use the scart lead that should have come with the box ~ You should have at least 3 scart sockets on the back of your tv. any 1 will do - then all tv will run through the av channel that should come on auto. when digi box is turned on.

Female coax connector in tv bad?

Did the cable person take a reading on the signal level at the cable outlet on the wall and did the cable person check the TV setting to make sure they are correct. TV could be set on the wrong channel also.

Female coax connector in tv bad?

If your cable converter box has audio/video connections on the back of it,you don't need to worry about using that RF coax connector. Just hook it up the same way your DVD is hooked to the TV input jack. Get a 3-wire cable (yellow-red-white)hook it to the same colors on the back of the cable box and hook the other end to an unused input on the back of the TV. Then select that input with your remote and watch TV.
