SOURCE: Kenwood TK-3101 is sensitive to Motorcycle RF

It would be nice to use the bike electrical system for power and not worry about battery juice. The TK 3101 is PC programmable so you could try and put in PL Tones.
They are like a way to filter radio signals out but that is different from the whine you are probably getting over the wiring.

Hi,

Initially and the simplest probably would be to use the units without enabling the CTCSS or any form of encoding (turn this feature OFF). In the meantime, will check the specs and post if anything concrete comes up.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Kenwood TK-3101 is sensitive to Motorcycle RF

After a lot of experimenting, I decided to try powering the Autocom with a 9v battery and that fixed the issue. Evidently, the power from the bike was dirty - I'll have to filter the power line, find a different place to tap into or remain battery powered.
