I recently dropped my S3500 and broke the mode selector switch (which is now held in place on Auto with adhesive tape) If I undo the tape, the switch cap comes off and the switch itself wants to fall into the body of the camera. Also may have a focus issue.
Is this repairable? I'm reasonably experienced with pulling electronics apart and reassembling them, is there any info out there on how to do this with Fuji S series cameras?
Maybe I should just replace the old girl :-(
There is a camera guy on e-bay his name is"darntoothysam" he repairs cameras and may have the parts. I had a sony V1 and got an LCD from him. Hes been doing it for a while and has alot of parts. Do a google search or try and contact him threw e-bay. I know he has a website but im not sure the address. I know hes REALLY reasonable though. If all else fails people buy broken cameras on e-bay you could get some of your money back for a replacement. I doubt fuji will have the parts unless its REALLY common. Might try and contact them first.
I like fuji, one of my favorite camera brands next to cannon. You might wana search e-bay for a couple weeks see if you can get one like yours thats dead maybe salvage parts from it? could build one good one from 2 if its cheap enough.

Your camera's Colour has been set to "Black and White". Select the camera icon on the power selector, and 'auto' on the mode selector. Press the menu button, and use left and right to find the "Finepix Color" setting. Use the up and down to select "Standard" instead of "Black and White".
Okay I hope you have found a fix for your problem but if not what I suspect has happened is the Focus mode Selector has been shifted to a manual mode. Page 21 of your manual here is a screen shot of the selector switch
The three position switch for play, camera, video has likely broken. The plastic switch on the outside has a small contact plate held to the back of the switch on the inside with one small screw. I do have a replacement on hand if you are interested.
Check your manual- Some models have a separate 'button' battery for date/time functions- there are quite long lived and are on all the time.
