Question about Samsung SC-A30 Camcorder
Hi there, I got a Samsung SC-A30 in 1999, and it?s been working fine snice then. I?m used to using it for a lot of thing, and I give it a lot of work, and I?m used to rewinding the tapes with the camera since I don?t have an external rewinder machine; so I guess this is some stressing for the camera?s mechanic. One of these past days of march 2006, the camera stop recording suddenly. I checked that out, and found a message on its screen which said the letters: C.EMG. Then I looked out in my camera manual and found that the trouble had to be with a mechanical problem. In fact, after my camera broke up, I couldn?t take the tape off the camera. Only after few times of pressing the open button and trying to take it off, the tape came out. Then, I tried to insert a tape again to see if the camera would work again, but it closed the compartment for a while, and then spat it away, showing again the C.EMG message. If anybody can help me with some clue or way to fix, it would be great, since I?m in Venezuela ,South America, and cameras here are very expensive, beside the money is hard to find it. Than you very much.
For all those who try to fix a samsung camcoder with a mechanical problem in which the message on the display is "C.EMG", thie is the solution : the problem is caused by the socket through which the axle of the cabestan motor passes through. the socket is fitted in the aluminium case of the motor. as it is known, aluminium suffers a process of seasoning/ageing and the bronze socket is no longer fitted in its original position. The socket moves towards the exterior and the cabestan, which consists of a magnet, gets near the 6 coils of the motor, starting a retardation effect. This problem can be solved by fitting the bronze socket with a small quantity of superglue or poxipol

This is a great little inexpensive camcorder here in the states. My experience with this model with those symptoms have been mode switch problems or a broken cam that throws the camcorder mechaism out alinment. These babys are nothing like the full size camcordersas you need special alighment jigs and lots of luck(lol) Reason i say that is because the manuals are not the most complete with the mechanical alighnment and you have to have some experience with other brands as afetr all mostly work about the same way in several ways as theres only so many ways to move a tape. These camcorder also suffer rfom the dreaded sony cap problem where they used those small serface mount caps made by panasonic and when you have on in for service you ended up in most cases replaceing several at a time as you would find all sorts of other tiny problems that the customer forgot to tell ya like veifinder problems and the shutting fown after a few hours ect ect. Best thing for you is to order a manual or ship it out to a repair depot to have fixed BUT in tellin ya its probably cost prohibited because of the time it takes to sevice these pups. Good Luck
