Setting and Transmitting Call Tones
Your radio can transmit different call tones to other radios in your group so you can alert them that you want to talk.
To set a call tone:
1. With the radio on, press MENU 3 times. The current call tone setting flashes and displays.
2. Press + or - to change and hear the call tone.
3. Press MENU or PTT to set the new call tone or turn feature off.

I re-read your post. I think you are talking about the "roger" beep, not the "call tone". So here is a better answer from page 21:

    Transmitting a Talk Confirmation Tone

You can set your radio to transmit an unique tone when you finish transmitting.

It's like saying Roger or Over to let others know you are finished talking.

    • To turn talk confirmation on, press + and hold while you turn the radio on. When

you release the PTT after transmitting, your call tone transmits and a dot with parethesis is displayed on the screen.

    • To turn talk confirmation off, turn your radio off and then back on while pressing

    and holding the + .

Motorola t5100 cant hear the other person talking into the radio

Check to see you have the radios set to the same frequency and interference eliminator code as one another. This would be the most likely cause.

Volume problem

The only thing to do is to send it to the factory for repair. If it is in warranty I would do this, if not, then it would probably be cheaper to purchase another radio

Motorola t5100

Hi,

In most Motorola T5XXX series/models, pressing the + button while powering on enables/disables the roger beep (release of PTT button).

Good luck and kind regards.
