Sony digital handycam dcr-vx1000e

Bought 2nd hand - replaced battery, got new charger. Camera was working but lines on footage; got head cleaners, camera worked fine for 1 day (no lines etc), but is now not working at all. Is there someone in the Lndon area who will give me a quote + refusal at a reasonable price. I have spent a fortune with little or no result so far.

The problem you discribe is a very very common problem and should able to be fixed for a reasonable price bey a good local guy if he knows how to adjust the tape path in a vcr as the tension posts on the right and the left side of the deck comes loose and knocks the tape path alighnment out . Now you say its dead now Oh boy that could be the dreaded sony PAN cap syndrom!!! Its the small panasonic surface mounted capd that all become leaky after a while and needs to replace many at a time or even in extreme cases the entire or mutible complete PCB assys have to be relaced.. Sorry to be the one to tell ya this man. But maybe you will be a luck one and only need a tape path alighnment!! Good Luck To Ya

Just bought one 2nd hand, I can't find the charger input :-)

This camera uses a separate battery charger. It won't charge in the camera. As you didn't get the charger with the camera, you will have to obtain one. I found lots of them by searching for "DCR-DVD92 charger" on Amazon.

Hi i have a sony dcr-pc3 my wife bought it in 2000 and it never holds a charge the longest we get is about 10 minutes we bought a new battery and have just bought a new charger same old...

Well if you have bought the right battery and the proper charger this sounds very odd, did the amp hr and every say the same details on the battery & charger as the old one? when you charge the camera how long was it till you used the camera? as Sony cameras lose around 30% charge per week, I know because I have a Sony still camera and movie, both lose charge, my still camera goes flat in 3 weeks after a full charge with no use at all, so they are never good bits of equipment with batterys.

LCD screen had two grey lines

I recently had the same problem. All I did was buy a Head Cleaner, followed the instructions, and now my camera works fine. It only cost me A$12 and I bought it from a shop specialising in digital video cameras. I hope this helps.

I have sony dcr-hc40

Put the camera in VCR mode not camera mode. Then play the cleaning tape. That should do it.

Sony DCR-VX1000E batteries

Li-Ion batteries cannot be charged efficiently with power supplies or NiCad chargers, they need a pulse charger dedicated to Li-Ion batteries. Also, there is a danger in charging with other sources as Li-Ion batts. will catch fire or explode if not charged properly. Please get a charger that is made for those batteries
