SOURCE: JVC GY-HD110U won't turn on with battery power only AC power.
There is an issue with the a small yellow part of the AC plug breaking off in the camera. The camera thinks it's still plugged in, so it won't run on the battery. If you can get a small tool to fit into the inlet you can break the piece up and pull the parts out. I haven't had any luck with it, but read others doing it.

Seems to be a known problem with a report on JVC website: http://www.jvc.co.uk/knowledge-list.php?id=4#0 Might be fixed if within one year of warranty ending and you still have a receipt. Something to do with a faulty CCD unit which needs replacing.

My problem (posted above) was with the CCD. When I spoke to a JVC rep in early December, the deadline at the time for free repair was early November or October, I'm not sure which. He said just send it in to the nearest factory authorized service center with a note explaining the problem and they'll take care of it free of charge. No RMA needed. And I got a free repair with fast turnaround. I suggest to others with this problem to just send the camera in with a note and they'll probably take care of it for free. If they want to charge you they'll have to ask for permission first. Being the camera is unusable as it is, what have you got to lose?
