Replacing the Toner Cartridges

If printout becomes faint or inconsistent, the reason may be that the lifetime of the toner cartridge has been reached even when a message does not appear. Do not continue to use the toner cartridge when there is a deterioration in the print quality.

The lifetime of toner cartridges for this machine is indicated as follows. The number of pages is based on printing a typical document (with a printing ratio of approximately 5 % and print density set to default).
- Black (EP-87) Toner Cartridge Black): Approx. 5,000 pages for printing paper in size of A4 or Letter.
- Yellow, magenta, cyan (EP-87 Toner Cartridge Yellow, EP-87 Toner Cartridge Magenta, EP-87 Toner Cartridge Cyan): Approx. 4,000 pages of printing paper in size of A4 or Letter.

Replacing the Toner Cartridges

When [PREPARE NEW* CART] and then [REPLACE* CARTRIDGE] appears in the LCD, replace the toner cartridge of the indicated color with a new toner cartridge.

* Indicates either "C", "M", "Y", or "K"

Do not burn or throw used toner cartridges into open flames, as this may cause the toner remaining inside the cartridges to ignite resulting in burns or a fire.

If toner gets onto your hands or clothing, wash it off immediately with cold water. Do not use warm water as this may set the toner permanently, and you may not be able to remove the toner stains.

Use only toner cartridges intended for use with this machine.

Press .

Press or to select [MAINTENANCE], then press .

Press or to select [CHANGE CARTRIDGE], then press .

Press or to select the cartridge to be replaced, then press .
You can select from the following:
-[BLACK]
-[CYAN]
-[MAGENTA]
-[YELLOW]
-[ALL COLORS]

Lift the scanning platform and open the cartridge cover when the sound of machine operation stop.

Make sure that the toner cartridge you want to replace is at the position for replacing.

If the spent toner cartridge is not in the replacement position, close the cover, then open it again when the sound of machine stops. Repeat this process until the cartridge you want to replace is in the correct position.

Remove the toner cartridge from the machine.
Hold the grip on the toner cartridge and lift it straight up.

Confirm the color of the label on the toner cartridge holder, then take out a toner cartridge of the same color from the protective bag.
Open the protective bag with scissors, so as not to damage the cartridge.

Keep the protective bag in which the cartridge came in. It may be required when taking out the toner cartridge for machine maintenance.
Be careful not to hold or touch the prohibited portions such as the sensor or electrical contacts. It may result in damage to the machine.

Hold the toner cartridge as shown in the figure, shake it gently 5 or 6 times from side to side (1), then back and forth (2) to evenly distribute the toner inside.

If toner is not distributed evenly, it may result in a deterioration of the print quality. Be sure to carry out this procedure properly.
Be sure to shake the toner cartridge gently. Toner may spill if the cartridge is handled without caution.

Remove the protective cover. Hold the protective cover and remove it as shown in the figure.

It may be a little snug, but it will pull off.

Do not touch or hold the developing roller. The image quality may deteriorate if you do. Do not apply shock to the toner cartridge memory or bring it near magnetic waves as this may result in damage to the machine.
Keep the protective cover with which the cartridge from removed. It may be required when taking out the toner cartridge for machine maintenance.

Place the toner cartridge on a flat surface, then pull out the sealing tape (Approx. 45 cm (17.72") in length) while supporting the toner cartridge.
Hold the tab on the sealing tape and pull it straight out.

If the sealing tape is pulled out forcefully or stopped at midpoint, toner may spill. If toner gets into your eyes or mouth, wash it away immediately and consult a physician.

Do not pull the sealing tape diagonally, upwards, or downwards. If the tape is severed, it may become difficult to pull it out completely.
Pull out the sealing tape completely from the toner cartridge. If the sealing tape remains in the toner cartridge, it may result in a deterioration in print quality.
Dispose of the sealing tape according to local regulations.

Hold the grip on the toner cartridge and install it in the machine.
Position the triangular mark on the toner cartridge with the triangular mark on the machine and instlal the toner cartridge.

When the toner cartridge is installed properly, the label on the cartridge and on the toner cartridge holder will be aligned as shown in the figure.

Close the cartridge cover and lower the scanning platform.

The toner cartridge holder will rotate automatically.

Cancel print job with a linux operating system

HI,
You've sent a print job to your printer and the green light is blinking, but the printer is not printing. The light blinks for a very long time.
The blinking light indicates that the printer is recieving your print request and will print shortly. If the document you are attempting to print is very large or contains many graphics or images, the printer must spool this data into its memory before printing. This can take quite a bit longer than usual. PDF files are notorious for taking longer than other document types.

In this case, it is best to wait a period of time before taking action. Give the printer 10 minutes and see if it prints.

If it does not print within this window of time, do the following.

1. In the bottom right corner of your screen, you will see a small printer icon. Double click on this icon to open the printer job menu.
2. You will see your print job located there, with other information, including its status.
3. Select the job by right clicking on it and select Cancel.
4. The job should cancel itself.
5. Unplug the printer, removing all power and leave it sit for a couple of minutes.
6. Plug the printer back in and allow it to go through its start up phase until the "Ready" indicator light is solid. This indicates that the printer is ready to recieve jobs.
7. You may now attempt to print again.

Thanks,

Wand Scanner - panscn08 buttons do nothing

Yes follow the first steps to set up the scanner (charge it, properly insert the memory card, etc.) Then you are ready to scan
Once you press the SCAN button and the Green LED stays lit its time to roll the scanner down your document to be scanned. When finished press the Scan button again to STOP the scan. If successful your Document count in the display will move from 000 to 001. That is the only indication that you now have a successful scan.
Next Press and hold the SCAN button until the display goes blank.
Now you can remove the memory card (by pushing in and it will release). Place this memory card into a memory card reader on your computer to transfer and view your scanned documents. Rinse and repeat.
BTW, I found a quick start guide for this Pandigital Handheld Wand Scanner Model PANSCN08 at:

Hi EPSON STYLUS 1290 'Communication Error has occurred' Green light and red light (the one above the paper symbol) are flashing alternatively. Unable to run any utilities. Please let...

Turn the printer off and unplug it from the wall. Press and hold the power button for sixty seconds. Check the paper supply and make sure all papers are uniform and tightly in the incoming tray. Turn the printer on and check the print que on your pc to make sure there are not unprinted documents stuck in the que preventing normal function. If there are documents in the print que you will see a printer icon (picture) on the bottom right side of the screen on your pc near the clock area. Sometimes there is an arrow in this arrow which needs to be clicked on with your mouse to expand and see all icons. Click the arrow and if you see a picture of a printer or Icon, right click with your mouse on top of it and choose open all printers. If there are documents in this area, click on one and choose delete until all are gone. Then try printing again. This should solve your issue.

The indications are of a NO POST. This can be caused by:
  1. Failed motherboard

If issues connecting USB connections occurred via the front connection, I'd suspect the IO panel as the issue. If the IO panel doesn't resolve, then motherboard is likely failure point.

Check that the correct printer is set as default. Also use File Print so that the selected printer is shown rather than using the Print button. If the test pages are being printed from the computer then the communication is working.
