The only motorized part I am aware of is the lens focusing mechanism. If it's making a noise loud enough to be heard and vibrating, it is most likely defective. I suggest sending it back to Sony for service if it is still under warranty.
sony has all their manuals online. You can download a free copy at the website. Your particular model is located ON THIS PAGE. It's a pdf type file and you can download a free adobe acrobat reader from the sony support site as well.
set the beamer off, unplug the power line, press -on-/input/menue at the same time and plug the beamer to the power line again thereafter you can remove your fingers from the below mentioned buttons. now the lamp counter should be reseted to 0 hope this helps it works on a TDP-T100
