Older RCA Projection screen, Blue picture!

My color is turning a blue color, looks like all pictures are at night with blue haze. Is my TV worth repairing?

I have about thirty adjusters ten for each color, Box is about 12"X8"

  • razzagirl Sep 14, 2008

My older 52" RCA projection TV also has a blue haze over it. I've tried to adjust the color convergence and the color picture controls but nothing helps. Is it a goner or can it be easily fixed?

Take the front speaker cover off, then remove the four screws on the cover behind it. you will see a 2"x2" black thing with 6 controls on it 3 on top three on bottom, your looking for "screen". they should also be marked r g and b, try turning the blue down (counterclockwise). it may help a little and prolong the life of your tv

RCA mm32110 picture turn to blue and white like you have blue sunglasses on.

I'm not familiar with this set but it sounds like your blue crt has shorted out and is putting out so much color that it overwhelms the other colors. Is the picture also washed out? If so then your blue crt is bad. Probably not worth fixing. Let me know more about what the picture looks like.

Our 1991 RCA P52150CP rear projection TV has gradually been getting bright cloudy blue, slight haze around letters & shapes-(especially blue channel change headings) when first turned on and then it...

Hi

First check whether all the cables from your dishnetwork are fine and connected firmly. If yes then you'll need to pull off the front of the tv, behind the speaker grill there would be a panel. Remove the panel and check for a black box hanging over there. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage a tube. so we are doing real small adjustments. Turn the color off on the tv and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. Also adjust the focus until you get a clear picture.

And, if it doesn't resolve your issue then it is an intermittant blue picture tube, a bad blue driver transistor on the CRT board, a bad connection on the blue crt board, or a problem in the RGB coming from the video jungle IC. A set this age, most likely will run you about 300 to 500 bucks to have this problem fixed, unless it is the picture tube.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rca D52W20 blue screen when turned on

Almost certainly the blue picture tube is bad. This is a huge job to replace and quite expensive. Generally it is not worth doing.

BLUE TINT ON SCREEN ALL THE TIME, COLOR ADJUSTMENTS FINE

Sounds like a bad blue CRT (picture tube) ITs expensive and difficult to replace. CAll a Sony service center for an estimate. but expect to spend $500-700 to replace it.

Yellow Haze Center Screen

The blue filter is burnt out. A very common problem in Zenith DLPs. There are 3 color filters, 1 blue (a pinkish color), 1 green (a grayish brown) and 1 red (it is red) they give you your colors for you picture. This is a simple fix.
