I find that when I burn DVDs using mainly DVD shrink most of the DVDs freeze or skip at some point in play back using my NAD DVD player but it seems to be less or not at all when playing through my PC. I use mainly Verbatim +RW Discs. Any assistance will be very much appreciated. Graham

My Mintek 1770 freezes every 5-10 seconds. The only way to get it going again is to turn it upside down and shake it. It takes about 31/2 hrs. to watch a 2 hr. movie. Do not even think of buying this product.

Disc plays fine for about 30 minutes, then it starts to skip or hesitate. The last ten minutes of the disc runs fine. It seems to always be in the last third or so of the disc when the skip begins. It will hesitate over and over again for up to twenty seconds before catching up with the lost time. I tried spraying some silicone on the rails, otherwise nothing.

I have had my S301 for about a year. I love the set, but movies, all dvds now just freezes. Sometimes I can rewind and it will freeze again. I can fast forward past the place and it will work a minute then do it again. This happend on new DVD's and old ones. I clean the disk and check for scratches. Nothing helps. We can't enjoy our 301 anymore. What can I do.

Try blowing it out with a can of compressed air even with the door closed and not being used that much the laser will still get dust on it and not read like it should and cause the dvd to freeze up, you might have to take the top cover off to get at the laser which is a round small red thing smaller than a dime .spray all around the track real good

Pull the cord to shut off the unit then plug it back in again. Hold the power button in for about 10 seconds.

If your burn your own DVDs, make sure you do this in the "most compatible" format. Some applications won't burn DVDs according to the standards. It could also be a misaligned laser or scratched lens.

Make sure that theres no smudges on the disc ie, fingerprints or scratches. If all the disc are fine then the slider or tracking motor and or cuirutry is at fault

You can try cleaning it with a dvd disk cleaner first. If that dont work by a cheap dvd player and run it to the inputs on the back of the surround player.

I would say your player is proably getting a lil old and maybe damaging the cd itself as most due overtime even the most pristine kept cd will catch scratches from being put into the player I would suggest taking a can of compressed air to your player to ensure the lense is clean

Those discs have a very strong copy protection mechanism to avoid making digital copies on PC systems but some DVD players won't play them because of that, if you have the original movie, download a copy from the internet, burn it to a dvd-r disc and play it. It's perfectly legal because you already bought the movie. The downloaded copies have no copy protection and will play better than the original.
The PHILIPS DVD-Home theater players are specially picky about non-standar disk like the one you're trying to watch.

My dvd player freezes when I view rental/bought movies

Is the player new? If it's a new DVD player and still under warranty, I would return it, exchange it or possibly, consider changing brands: perhaps to a Phillips brand DVD player. After all, the Phillips corporation guarantees its DVD players will play everything, just read the box in which the player's packaged - it's the best bang for your buck. With DVD players being so inexpensive these days, the best option is to buy new. Keep computing Chomskyites.

DVD freezes

If these disks are copyed DVD your player may not be able to read them the right way! Try them on another player to see if its the dvds or the player! (all Players do not read all dvd types)

Won't read dvd

Try switching the LINE SELECT button from OUT to IN, then back to OUT. This solved the problem in which our Sony DVP-FX810 player showed LOADING for around 30-45 seconds and then CHECK DISC.

Movies freeze or stop . It is a dvd player connected to the tv. Not a pc dvd player.

First and most likely dirty or scratched DVD's. Does this happen on EVERY DVD played? Store bought? Home made? NetFlix? Let me know.
