Before or after turning my JVC camcoder on and removing the lens cap, the LCD screen is black with the 'lens cap' message on the screen, even though the lens cap it removed. Usually, the screen can see what teh camera is pointing to once the lens cap is removed, but is seems to think the lens cap is permenantly on. I seem to have all other functions and features on teh screen but no picture. I have tried everyhing. Any suggustions? Please help! regards....Tony
This is a known problem with this model. The cause has been identified by JVC as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Until October 1, 2007, repairs of units exhibiting these problems will be made free of charge at JVC Factory Service Centers.

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

I cant believe I just found out about this free repair from JVC. I have the JVC GR-D72U. It's been sitting in my drawer for about a year and a half because of the "lens cap" error message. Do you know who to call at JVC to get some information regarding this free repair solution.
