The modem cannot get a signal from your service provider. The DSL light is an indicator if your modem is communicating with the network of your service provider. DSL light should always stay solid green. Try contacting your service provider. It might also be an indication of a bad modem.

1. Check the for the Physical connection Between the router and dsl the modem
2. And make the sure the dsl light or the status is solid green in the dsl modem
3. If the dsl light or link light is bilking on the dsl modem . call your service provided and run a line test to confirm if there is any problem with the telephone line

A little background - initially (2-3 weeks ago) I was having problems only during the evening. I contacted my provider and they said they tested the line and indicated they were sending the issue up the line. When they checked it out during the day-no problems found (no surprise there). When I called in the evening when the problems occurred they indicated there was a problem on their side. They were supposed to call back but didn't before I had to leave. (2+ working days later)
Upon my return yesterday I lost connection after about 1 hour of it working fine. (While I was gone my son tells me the it didn't worked during the day but worked fine at night.)
NOW they tell me that my modem is bad because the DSL light is either flashing or solid red.
However, all morning the list has been solid green, but internet speed is 1/3 what it should be.
When I connect to the modem and run the connection tests, if I am having problems, any one of these tests may fail (it will fail any of these test randomly). Right now it passes these tests without fail.
