Bad signal board or something else?

There are faint lines in my picture and I was told that it was probably the signal board. I been unable to find a signal board on line. the tv is working but the lines are annoying. I have a samsung hcn653w 65in. rear projection tv. Is this something that I have to have a repairman come out and do? I had one come out but he didnt look all that trustworthy. Or maybe I should get a second opinion. He quoted me nearly 600 dollars. And that he would have to take my signal board apart and send it to Chicago to get re-built. This will take around 4 to 6 weeks. Please let me know if this is correct. Thank you

You weren't very specific about your problem, but assuming you've tried different inputs and tried messing with the convergence setting, it may indeed be the signal board, and you may need to have it replaced. BTW these sets also have an issue with the dynamic focus circuit and with crt fluid leakage. Make sure that you do not have a fluid on one of the crt boards. And as always with repairmen, a second opinion couldn't hurt.

How do I fix my Samsung 55" tv? When I turn it on the picture is black with darker black lines going down and the box that says Weak or no signal is faint.

Try this first. If your tv is connected to a DVD player, use it first. It should not say “no signal”. If there is a good picture with dvd on, the problem is with your antenna wire. Move and extend your antenna or put one on.

I have an 39' Element TV elefw392. There's sound but no picture on TV. There's only a power board, but no inverter board. What is the fix?

The LED driver is probably on the Main board. There is the T-Con board too. To determine which parts you need, do this. With the TV on and listening to a program, shine a flashlight on the screen and look for a faint picture. If you see one, the LED driver is bad. If you don't see a picture, the T-Con board is bad. How can I fix the picture on my TV screen that is white with faint image.

Check the aerial is ok, try another aerial on the set. It is unusual for FP tvs to have a bad picture. If the aerial is tested as being good try resetting the set to the factory default and then retune the cannels. I am assuming that you are receiving the signal through an aerial and not through cable/satellite dish.
The reset process may not not resolve the issue in which case it is probably time to get the services of a qualified technician. The fact that the picture stays on channel probably indicates that it is not a tuner error but something in the display ciruitry .

How do I get the picture on my tv back?

It's could be one of two things (well, generally speaking).

1.) inverter board. You can check this by putting the TV on something that's broadcasting or playing (a channel or an input playing a DVD or something like that, where you can hear the sound) and then take a flashlight and put it directly on the screen so the light is pointed at the screen. Put it as close as you can, it should be touching the screen so you can't see light coming out the side of the flashlight. Can you see the picture faintly moving normally? This usually works on something that's brighter and has lots of onscreen action, I wouldn't choose a documentary on deep space or something like that for this test. But if you can faintly see the picture moving as it normally would it's most likely your inverter board gone bad.

2.) main board. If the other test fails it's probably the main board that's gone bad.

Either of these you might be able to find a replacement on eBay with a tutorial on how to swap out the components on YouTube. If you believe this may be beyond the skillsets you posses, then you may just consider buying a new one as technicians can be expensive and these TVs are getting cheaper and cheaper every day.

good luck!

I turn my tv on but the screen stays black

inverter board is probably bad. use a flash light to shine on the screen...if you can see a faint picture then the backlight board is bad.

My has multible lines streaming across the screen and unable to view picture. It sometimes stops and the flutters and starts up again.

usually a bad cap or 9v regulator on the signal board, requires surface mount soldering skills. estimate = $150-300

Monitor has cloloured lines or blank when turned on or resting

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since the power led or button is on and all connection are corrrect, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care

The screen will not turn on

Yes these Monitors encounter problems:
1. Bad Inverter
2. Burned out Backlight
3. Power supply issues
Sounds like your inverter board is bad and backlight will probably follow!
