SOURCE: DVD player recorder won't read or play any disc

For 18 months i've been **** at Best Buy for what I thought was a piece of junk. Then I read the TIPS&TRICKS posting by BobbyR1234. Follow his instructions but add 3B. Theres a black plastic plate blocking access. Remove the 2 Phillips screws and release the plactic clip on each side. Clean as instructed. A tip-off to this being your problem: try playing a music disk. The music will play and data will show but of course there will be no video therefore the disk will work. Thanks bobby!!!!

SOURCE: Won't Read blank disc!!

I my DVD-HR735 wont recognise any discs at times, and is getting worse. I've now discovered (out of frustration) that if I tip the front up to between 30-45 degrees, it will play all the discs it says were unreadable. I've started jamming three dvd boxes under the front of the machine when i want to play dvds.

Insert disc.....

May be looking for a firmware update disk. Try looking on the panasonic website for firmware updates for this unit. Burn the file to a disk and put it in the machine and let it load.

I tried to record a dvd and was unsucessful. Now the player won't work. I insert a disc and I can hear the player trying to read the disc. After three tries an error message is displayed saying:...

Hello
It seems that the Laser Pickup unit has some troouble with it. Just inser an audio CD and see whether the player reads the disc. If it reads, try with an MP3 disc. If these tow types of discs go with and not with DVD disc, make sure that the Laser Pickup Unit has the trouble. It has to be replaced with same type and number. Actually this is a very skilled work, as you have to disassemble and reassemble the DVD mechanism If you have confidence, and have all tools to do this work, you can do it by yoursef. Otherewise, get this set repaired, either by any experienced service technician, or by the Authorised Service Center for Panasonic at your town, I recomend you to get this set repaired by its authorised service center itself. OK.

DVD Code Problem No FVU

You need to install or update the Firmware. Go to www.panasonic.ca and search your model. You will then need to download the firmware for your player and burn it/mount it as an ISO file on to cd. Just follow the instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

It took me about 25min, but it is working fine now.

LOCKED DVR

I just bought the CH-DVR 1600 @ Target. This is just a temporary workaround to enable playing of region 2 DVD disks (don't have other regions but believe it will work also), until the real regional unlock is available.

1. Insert the region 2 DVD disk and close the tray.
2. Wait for the "Wrong Region" popup to appear in the upper-right corner of your TV screen.
3. The display on your DRV reads "STOP" at this point and the "Wrong Region" popup has disappeared.
4. Press the number "1" button on your DVR remote and a small input popup will appear in the upper-left corner of your screen.
5. Do not press anything else and the DVR will accept this entry as a chapter # and proceed to this chapter to start playing the movie.

NOTE1: The DVR runs in a somewhat restricted node, e.g. the DVR display still reads "STOP" and some remote functions do not work, such as "Menu". The input numbers correspond to the chapters on the DVD disk, so you can experiment and get to the menu once you hit one of the extra feature chapters with a "back to the menu" link on it.

NOTE2: I’m anxiously awaiting the real unlock sequence, as I tried most of the old ones posted here, none seemed to work.

also try this
-Switch player ON with no disc in the tray. Close tray and press MENU, 1, and 9 on the remote control. A menu should appear with the Region Option. Highlight the Region entry and press ENTER on the remote. Type in the Region you want. (Put 0 for code free) Press ENTER again to confirm choice. Press OPEN/CLOSE TRAY button and put in movie.

MRV700VR

EXT1 is not an error - that message means that the dvd player is on input "EXT1" - so it is trying to display whatever is connected to EXT1 in the back of your DVD player, whether it is a cable/sat box, another vhs player, etc. The message may be getting displayed for a number of reasons - but, if you put in an incompatilbe/unfinalized disc type, and it is not able to play that disc, it may default to EXT1 b/c it is searching for some type of usable signal.

The MRV700VR is only compatible with certain discs types - and the disc types that you are trying to insert must also be finalized discs. I would reccomend only using the compatible disc types listed in your user's manual - some of them are getting harder-to-find. 16x discs are very iffy with this machine. 8x discs are best.

I have the full user's manual, so I can give you any more details that you request.

Sanyo dvd v100e will not record onto dvd

As in most dvd or cd players for that matter, there is a switch that is made when a dvd or cd is present. After the disc is loaded and the door closes, it makes this little switch inside the player/recorder. Another cause of this problem is that the lens that actually reads the disc is just gotten to the point that it is too dusty to read and therefore it say there is no disc. To solve that problem I take the cover off (just a few screws readily seen), and I first blow out the dvd player with a can of clean compressed air with a small straw attached. There will be sufficient dust in there after three years to notice once the compressed air hits it. After the dust settles, you can see the little laser lens in the carrier where you put the disc, clean it with a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol, then turn the q-tip around and dry the excess off the lens. With the cover off load the disc and make sure as well that it starts to turn. The dirty lens would have kept it from starting to turn as well since it could not see the disc there to begin with. This should get it to work. Good luck and God bless.
