Question about Sony KP-57WV700 57" Rear Projection HDTV

Open Question

KP57wv700 Sony rear projection. Screen turns completly red after warm up. I took the back off to look at the color globes and red and blue seem to be the same brightness, the green seems weak. Is the green globe the problem? I've read something about a bad solder connection somewhere which if I knew where that was I could correct it. I've also seen some prices on these color globes and if it's not a solder connection...the tv will be out at the curb for next garbage day..

SOURCE: Blue Screen

Your blue crt has a short - you can verify this by unplugging the socket from the blue crt and powering up the set and you should see a yellowish looking picture with just the red and green crt's operating. You can try turning down the screen control pot (B) for blue with the blue crt on (just to the point where you no longer see retrace lines in the picture on a blank input)Sony has had a lot of problems with the crt's on these models and sooner or later all the crt's will fail - For a permanent repair all must be changed.

Yes, especially big screen. It sounds like convergence is out of lign. Try menu and straighten out, wait until set is warm first.

You have a problem within the light engine. This a hugely expensive. If the set is not too old you could contact Sony and see if they will help you out. Otherwise it is not eceonomical to repair

My hitachi 57f510 has been turning orange am I able to fix this and how.

If I remember correctly, There are 3 projection globes in the back of a rear projection TV. I would say 1 of the globes has failed which is gives you an incorrect colour balance on the screen. There is usually a red, green and blue globe. Its probably either of the blue or green one which has failed. Someone else on fixya may be a bit more conversant with rear pro TV to confirm this.

Get them back out there and and make them fix the problem. Obviously it was not properly serviced. $800 for a repair that didn't take is a rip-off. If they refuse, report them to your local BBB and post negative feedback on ripoffreport.com, angieslist.com and as many other places you can come up with.
