If the machine is filling up, then cycling and draining, the
problem is usually the belt. The belt is reached disassembling the appliance . If the belt is OK the problem is usually the motor or the motor control unit, which is a sealed electronic module connected to motor and to control board and located inside the washer. If the motor
has volts and does not turn, then the motor must be replaced. In some
less common case the control module itself may be responsible. Motor assembly and belt are located at the back of the drum and get accessed disassembling top and back of the washing machine.
If the machine does not go through the cycle, but it starts draining from start, then the problem is overfill detected. In that case check the drain system, the drain hose, the inlet valve and the pressure switch.
