Funky Coffee Maker --isn't working

I have a 12-cup DCC-1200 black & chrome Cuisinart coffee maker, like the one pictured below. Once every three weeks or so the brewing function goes into overdrive and, instead of brewing a pot of coffee, just keeps gurggling away frantically and, when it finally stops, the "coffee" produced is WAY too strong. I have in the past then used the self-cleaning function and, after a while, it's cleared up. But now it isn't. What to do?

This is generally caused by a clog in one of the water lines ..Take the bakset out , and check for clogs in it that could be preventing it from dripping into the canister ... Next remove the filter and run a fairly strong vinegar solution through it followed by a rinse .You may need to do several pots of vinegar . Also check to make sure you are putting the right amount of H20 in your maker as it will evaporate some during brewing .. You may need to also go to a comercial cleaner to clean it out . You can also unplug it and tip upside down and hit it with some cold water from the hose on the sink . Lastly replace your filter (in the water chamber) In the case of this not working you may wish to contact the mfg for replacement .Or if there is no longer a warrenty you may wish to replace it .

It sounds like there's a problem with Charcoal Water Filter. What it does is it eliminates chlorine, calcium, bad tastes and odors on the brewed coffee. You can try to clean it manually or if that doesn't work, replacing that might fix the problem.

Keep us updated. Hope that helps.

Coffee maker shuts off too soon after brewing.

Hello FloydBob, The Cuisinart DCC-1200 has the ability to program the auto-off function that keeps your coffee warmer plate on after brewing is complete.

The unit lets you select the time increments from zero up to 4 hours.

See page 6 of the attached manual for the full instructions for reprogramming the coffee maker.

To program the Variable Auto Off:
1. Turn the FUNCTION KNOB to the “Auto Off”
position. Press and hold the “Hour” button
for 2 seconds. The clock display will start
blinking.
2. Program the coffeemaker to shut off from
zero to four hours after brew cycle is
finished by using the “Hour” and “Minute”
push-buttons.

I figured you might also like to have a complete instruction/owners manual so you can have access for any other questions you might have about your coffee maker, in the future.

Can one buy Cuisinart dcc 1200 coffee maker heater elements

Hello handkrobbins,
Yes, you can buy the heater elements but not from Cuisinart directly. You will need to find a small appliance repair shop to order it for you. I hope this was helpful to you. Positive feedback is appreciated. Good luck and regards, NormanZ
