Question about Samsung ML 1610 Laser Printer

My samsung ml1610 printer has red light online/error, with the smart panel installed it shows paper tray empty..but it isn't empty, it is with good amount of papers, i tried to remove and install the cartridge, check for paper jam( from main door and output part), reconnect all the cables, the toner is still with powder, wiped the roller with tissue, finally uninstall and reinstall the smart panel and ml1610 xp driver...nothing helps, still the same old paper tray empty red light error..in the end i gave up and restarted the comp and printer.. in amazement it give me a 2 green light on online/error and toner save and i understand that this is a system problem from ml1610 manual. now i donno wat to do, pls help

    First of all, thanks for answering, i've tried
    1. checking paper jam by pulling out the toner and look inside/feel inside for any paperbits & checking the paper output part.
    2. dismantle the cords and check for any loose connection
    3. check toner if it is still in good condition( still with powder)
    4. remove and reinstall ml1610 windows xp driver and smart panel.
    5. wipe roller with tissues?
    6. make sure there is good amount of paper in the tray.

    For the printer indication light, it shows RED online/error light w/o blinking.
    For info, sometimes....only sometimes..when I turn on the printer ..it shows 2 GREEN LIGHT W/O BLINKING, i checked it in the manual and this is NOT EXPLAINED, only 2 BLINKING GREEN is explained, mine is 2 green lights W/O blinking.
    After a short time, the 2 greens will turn to 1red.
    Which is where I am now.

    “Clearing Paper Jams” on page 5.6.
    • The front cover is open. Close the front cover.
    • Paper tray is empty. Load the paper in the Tray.
    • The toner cartridge is out of toner. Remove the old
    toner cartridge and install a new one. See
    “Installing the Toner Cartridge” on page 2.4.
    Already tried all these earlier but still online/error indication light = red.

    It probably has a jam somewhere. Open each flap, remove the toner cartridge and check the paper path is clear OR There has to be an obstruction to the paper path somewhere. Pull the toner cartridge out and have a good look, open the back panel up and see it is clear. I think you might find a foreign object in there or a small piece of paper as it doesn't take much to block the paper path. I hope this helps you

Red light stays on... wont print wont pick up paper... cleaned as much as I could...


There are a lot of conditions that cause the red light to come on. These include toner cartridge empty, paper jam, waste toner tank full, etc. The only good way of determining the printer fault is to check the smart panel software on your computer. It will tell you what the printer is experiencing.

If the printer can't pick up the paper, check the condition of the paper pickup roller. It is located in the back, and above the paper tray. Often it get dirty and cleaning it with a damp cloth helps it to pick up paper better. Hope this helps you.

Why is red light on samsung clp- 315 and it is not printing


Does one of these situations apply to you?

The Status LED light is Red and the Toner lights are OFF (Check Smart Panel for message)

  • A Paper Jam has occurred.
  • The Front, Top, or Back Cover is open.
  • There is no paper in the Paper Tray.
  • There is a problem with the Waste Toner container.
  • A major error has occured.

The Status LED light is Blinking/Flashing Red and the Toner light(s) are Red

  • The Toner cartridge(s) that are Red need to be replaced. (Can still be used to print, but quality is unreliable)

The Status LED light is Red and the Toner light(s) are Red

  • The Toner cartridge(s) that are Red need to be replaced. (Printing is not available)
  • The Toner cartridge(s) are not installed properly.

Red Error Light Stays On The following conditions can cause the On Line LED to glow solid red:
  • Printer paper is jammed inside your printer.
  • A cover is not be closed properly.
  • The toner cartridge is not inserted properly and needs to be reinstalled.
  • The toner cartridge is running low.
  • There is no paper in the paper tray.
  • The paper inside the paper tray is not be installed correctly.
Red Error Light Blinks If your printer's On Line LED is blinking red, your printer's toner is exhausted and needs to be replaced. On Line and Error Light Blink Simultaneously
If your printer's On Line and Toner Save LEDs blink simultaneously, your printer requires service.

I have an ML1610 printer which has jammed - it failed to feed a sheet of paper. Now the red error light shows constantly. Is there a way to reset this?


if you open both the front and top flaps check theres no paper there and close them again this does the trick. Has always worked for me, anyway!

Red and Green lights are together blinking continiously


I had this problem. The cancel button was stucked. Open the toner tray and slighly push the button side top-cover up. It released the cancel button for me (actually I was trying to open the top, but it worked). The cancel button was released and the blinking red-green stopped. Printer now working.
