..ip1000 questions..

..it's cleaning time, a simple if messy operation. You will have to clean the print head and the waste ink pads, and whilst there might as well clean all the other gunk as well..

..so how to do this ?

..power on, open front, let carrier slide to middle front, pull power cable, pull computer cable.

..Remove cartridges

..by hand slide carrier to left to below the grooves in the upper case front. Clip the grey print head retainer, it pivots to the printer back, it must go up in the grooves, then remove print head, it comes forward..

    ok, after joining..

    ..cleaning the ip1000 continued..

..now remove the foam strip in the base, put in shallow alcohol bath,

..clean base of print head with alcohol, ear-buds to remove obvious muck, fill inside with alcohol, stand on foam strip in shallow bath, leave, change alcohol, stand in bath on foam, repeat till alcohol runs clean..

..while your there, clean waste ink pads and wipers in the following sequence..

..remove case end caps, these clip at the bottom and hook at the top..

..remove upper case, this has 2 screws at printer front, just behind the front, dark grey paper feed roller, get at from above, there are two clips at rear, just above the upward grooves on printer rear, access these with the dust cover open, and insert flat screw driver between white clips and grey retainers..

..now remove waste ink pads, on the white holder, machine bottom right, soak in alcohol, using earbuds and toilet paper, clean the ink wipers situated on the left of the waste pad carrier..

..clean up all the other gunk you'll find..

..swear to be a better person in 2009, who WILL keep their hi-tech clean..

..when alcohol runs clean, dry off excess alcohol on absorbsent paper,

    ..reassemble

    ..important notes

...avoid touching the copper plates on the back of the print head..

..all directions are given as if viewing printer from front
