You'll probably need to just purchase a replacement head for your trimmer. You can buy one from PartsBuggy.com here. You'll need part #385-580.

Please note: The replacement parts shown when you click the link for the item # are replacement parts for the head being sold and may not necessarily fit the original Homelite head that may be on your trimmer.

Recently picked up a used Homelite ST 125 gas trimmer from a sweet little old lady that had only used it 3 or 4 times. It looks new and runs outstanding. I tried to replace the string but could not loosen...

The way to tell whether it is a right or a left hand thread is to pull the starter rope and see which way the head turns. That is the direction you should turn the line dispenser to loosen and remove it to reload the line. Sometimes these get very tight and need a lot of torque to get started. You could call the Homelite technical support line to find out the single/dual line question. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please contact me.

The spline for my Poulan TE475 WeedEater comes out during start up and wraps around the shaft. I use .080 round spline. It started recently to do this.

The string head on these units is very poorly designed. There is hardly anything in the head to retain the line. I suggest removing the stock string head and going to Home Depot and getting a replacement Universal type head or one for the Ryobi or Homelite They are basically interchangeable. Check the length available on the shaft end (threaded part) after removing the head.Use a large wrench or pliars to hold the dust cap when you unscrew the head. If you feel the driveshaft turning, don't continue turning head or you will break the flex driveshaft.

I need to kno what the item number (so I can order) the line tensioner on my Poulan Pro Link line trimmer---PPB 335. It is a small plastic trimmer head cover. Do I have to order the whole trimmer head?

Your string head is part number 26 in the diagram. Home Depot's Garden department has a wide variety of parts including universal string heads and heads for Homelite, Ryobi, etc. and possibly one that will fit your machine. A lot of these trimmers have Poulan engine and trimmer head parts. See if you can get the complete assembly off the trimmer (if you haven't already) and take it with you to the HD and match it with a new one. The price of parts from an online supplier plus shipping will be almost as much as a complete replacement head. If you shop Ebay, there are literally hundreds and hundreds of weed trimmer parts on there and some good deals to boot.

I need a new trimmer head for myhomelite trimmer model HTL800A

I see that this is an older model electric trimmer. The correct model number is HLT800A. Parts for electric models are difficult to find (online). Most service centers refuse to work on them and they say it is not cost effective. They basically just issue warranty replacements. Even Searsparts direct that has parts for most makes and models only lists gas models for Homelite. So, if you can get the old head off (or even if not); take it to the Home Depot garden center and there you will find a vast array of different string heads that may or may not fit this model. I know that most of them are for the gas machines. You may even find a new electric model on sale there that suits your fancy. I have been unable to find any spare parts listed for this model.

Homelite trimmer, gas, string - y is the string wrapping itself around the head of the trimmer?

The line on my new 26cc Homelite would also feed out by itself. That started me thinking the line was wound backwards. I wrapped the line in the opposite direction as was shown on the bump feed reel and now the dang thing works although the bump feed needs to be "bumped" pretty hard to work. Is it possible that the reel was manufactured with the (string direction) arrows pointing the wrong direction? The new 26cc unit is also underpowered compared to my older 25cc trimmer.
