Re:
When you say flickering??? are you saying the screen goes black and comes back on?? does the sound go out at the same time and comes bag on with the pic ? Is the sound there when this happens but is distorted. Is the pic blacked out or is it greying out with lines and twisting?? Need more info please as if its blacking out and the sound goes with it it may be going into shutdown. If the pic is getting kinda greyish with it twisting and the sound is there and ditorted then the tuner could be bad

use the buttons on the box to change the channel. did the channel change?
usually when someone only has one channel its because they are changing the tv channel not the cable box channel
think of it like this:
the TV is a monitor and should always be on the same channel (3, 4, hdmi, or whatever) its actually the box that tunes and the tv always stays on the same channel.
so if you change the tv channel you are no longer watching the output of the cable box.
Lots of possibilities. If you are using the remote, try also using buttons on the TV to change channels. If TV buttons work, the remote is broken or perhaps try changing batteries and cleaning battery contacts on the remote. If neither work, lots of other things to try. You may need to set preselect channels, so your TV thinks there is only one channel out there until you do. If you are on a cable box you just need channel 3 and change channels on the cable box. I can't tell what you mean by "audio changes with the channel" ... if you mean that when you try to advance channels, it increases volume and moving down in channels lowers volume that would be strange -- if you are using a programable remote it might not be set correctly (try another programming code). The "blurred" picture is probably symptomatic of having the set on the wrong channel, and if you could set channel it might clear up ... I'd start with getting channels to change. If you need more help, give the brand and model of TV, say if you are using a remote (original or programable), and what the 'audio changes' comment means in more detail. Probably worst case is that your tuner circuit is fried, but don't assume that without more diagnostic.
Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.
I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).
TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD
press and hold select and red until the led blinks twice type in 0 0 6 0 press the power button, if the tv turns off then the press select and the remote should work all the tv functions.
If the tv does not turn off then press tv then the power button and keep doing this until the tv turns off, once it turns off press select and it should work.
It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?
Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions. Mac =)
I have seen some RCA TV's with this problem and it has usually been a switch going bad on the keypad of the tv. This can be confirmed by disconnecting the plug from the control panel to the main chassis. If you are lucky, and the ir rcvr for the remote is not on the control board, you can still control tv with the remote.Good luck.
if any one can help me please let me know yhank you
