Thank youfor posting your question here on Fixya.com. The leak is likely caused by a defective pump seal. If you look at the parts breakdown at http://www.star-pool.com/assets/Hayward-Pool/Hayward-Manuals/Hayward-SP2610X15-Super-Pump-Parts-Diagram.pdf you can see the seal and the other parts that must be separated in order to replace the seal.

THE HARD WAY! Once you are sure the seal is defective you need to buy a new one along with a diffuser gasket, a pump housing gasket and some pump gasket grease.

The 4 housing cap screws and the impeller must be removed in order to remove the 4 motor cap screws. The hardest part of this process is removing the impeller. The cover on the other end of the motor should be removed and the motor shaft held with a wrench. The impeller must then be removed by turning it with a large pump pliers or by inserting a screw driver into one of the holes on the outer edge of the impeller in order to turn it counterclockwise with the shaft held with the wrench. If this damages the impeller it should be replaced.

Now remove the 4 motor cap screws and everything is apart except the seal. Half of the seal can be removed from the motor shaft and the other half from the seal plate. Placing a socket on the back side of the seal that is on the seal plate allows the seal to be removed by tapping it with a heavier tool (hammer or pump pliers). Clean this area, apply a little silicon adhesive to the area and insert the new seal half into the seal plate using the instructions that are included with the seal.

Use pump gasket grease on the pump impeller gasket and reassemble the completely reassemble the pump.
THE EASY WAY!
Remove the piping from the motor and the electrical conduit and wires from the end of the motor. Bring the pump to Leslies pool supplies (I don't work there or own any of their stock) . If they are not very busy then they will do the above and only charge you for the parts while you wait.

I have replaced so many seals I almost always do it myself at the pool site but it is not easy for the first timer.

2002 Mazda Tribute. Can a water pump still leak after sealant solution?

Question edited for clarity
Question moved to category.

Water leaks don't cause overheating unless there is no, or very little coolant..

Air locks cause overheating.
Failed water pumps cause overheating.
Blocked radiators cause overheating.
Stuck thermostats cause overheating.

How to fix oil leak 2000 camry?

get it totally clean
drive 5 miles
look for leak
the key is to find WHAT is leaking.?

can be many things,
bad clogged PCV valve causing all things to leak or worse.
gaskets
seals
0-rings.
casing flaws that cause leaks (aluminum porosity issues)

until WHAT leaks is found
there will be NO costs, quotes, ever.
if not handy then just get it fixed, what choices are there?
not handy.?
sell it, ignore it. or?

no sane man quotes unknown repairs.
unless said man wants to eat losses. big time.

handy?
use IR dye in the oil with lamp IR .
then run car and see the dye marks as it leaks.
now you know both ways. (old and new)
leak on.

Power steering leak

with power-steering it could be one of three problems. 1- power steering pump could be going out ( normally with the pump the car will whine but will not normally leak and still hold fluid) 2- a leak in your power steering lines ( and can normally be resolved with new lines or sometimes you may be able to bypass and clamp the leak on the line) 3- you may have busted the O rings in your powersteering pump and that will actually cause the pump to leak

hint- alot of people will tell you that you may also use transmission fluid for power-steering this is true you can its that same thing as power-steering fluid just a different color (but dont put power-steering fluid in a transmission, but at the same time if you plan on replacing the pump i would use transmission fluid due to it being cheaper but it will cause the O rings in the power-steering pump to go out quicker to cause a worse leak) so i would recommend to locate the leak first before using trans fluid due to if its in a line you wont have to replace the pump but if its already the pump this is the cheapest fix until repaired

The car was leaking antifreeze and started smoking in 40 degree weather. I filled it and it stopped leaking, but the engine is still overheating. If its the water pump, how can I replace it on a 1992 chevy...

Is the antifreeze leaking out of a small hole on the water pump housing just behind the pulley?
You need to know exactly where the leak is coming from. If the pump is not leaking then there is another location.
Generally pumps either work or leak. They do not slow down and overheat the engine.
Where did the smoke come from? Under the hood or out the exhaust pipe? If you blew a head gasket and the exhaust was blowing steam that would cause overheating. The original leak under the engine would cause overheating that then will cause other problems like blown head gaskets.
Did you use stop leak or some quick fix? what did you do to stop the original leak?

I started my dishwaasher it didn't stop. The pump is always in function. I turn off and on the breaker but it was not fix the problem. Thank you for your help!! Francois Henry

The pump running function is an indication that the "anti-flood" device is triggered by a water leak / spill on the base of the washer. The device is a polystireene float and a micro switch that puts the pump on once it detects water at the base. Water leak via hose or hose clamp can cause this. Even a small hole in pipe due to perishing hose causes this. Find the leak and fix it and dry the base of washer.

Antfreeze leak not allowing belt to get traction where might the antifreeze be coming from and how can fix it

check all the hoses. next, check the water pump, should be behind the fan. If the bearings have gone bad in the water pump, it can sometimes leak coolant everywhere.

Water pump is leaking and causing the engine to overheat. The pump has been "repaired" what shall i do now?

obviously the water pump was never fixed properly if it is still leaking, take it back to were you had it repaired and have them repair it properly. A number of problems could cause your vehicle to over heat.
-water pump not working properly.
-low antifreeze.
-air lock.
- rad cap not working properly.
-thermos stat not working properly.

1998 chevy monte carlo leaking coolant

It's a 99% chance of water pump leak or the housing at the timing chain that the water pump sits on.
Water pumps can and do leak one minute then seal themselves.
A cheap fix most use is go to a 7 lb pressure cap on the rad.
