Question about Kodak EasyShare Z740 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Under MacOSX I have a Easyshare Z470 camera. Microprogram for camera 1.0100. When I connect my camera through a USB as usual, iPhoto recognize the camera and open as usual. But since 1 month, instead of the photos, I get only dashed squares in the iPhoto window were the photos normally appear (as many squares as there are photos). When I ask to import the photos, the following advise appear : " Files format not recognized " followed by the list in .jpg of the photos on the Disk. iPhoto can't read the files through the camera, and can't erase them. To get the pictures I must take out the SanDisk and insert it into a diskreader. Then everything works normally with the Disk and iPhoto. Exactly the same problem appears when I proceed from the internal memory of the camera. These photos are lost forever. The camera seams to be anymore unable to make the transfer between the SanDIsk and iPhoto, through the USB. The camera works normally in all other functions. I already formated the Disk and the inside memory with the camera. What must I do... Jean-Pierre Roy

Pro photographers avoid this very common problem by always using a diskreader. You've found that this method works very well so stop worrying and enjoy. As far as the problem with the pics on the internal memory of the camera, go into the menu and find "copy". It will give you the option to copy the internal memory to a memory card.

How do I upload my photo's from my Finepix Z90 to my mac? I can't start installer for MacOSX on my Mac.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as iPhoto.

I can't get my new MacBook to recognize and import photos.

Mac's don't need a driver to recognize the camera however they usually need a specific program for different brands of photos. You can also try opening up iPhoto as that will usually recognize the camera. If iPhoto doesn't work and you don't want to install a new program you can also get a card reader that'll connect via USB and will avoid needing any program to transfer photos.
