Samsung just told me they wouldn't fix my tv because it was produced in Nov. of '06 and the only ones they would fix were made in August of '06 or earlier. I am way too angry right now to call the service tech number they so very nicely provided.
Highly unlikely the bulb could be at fault; it sounds a lot like a defective DLP chip.
If you are not aware of how this device functions, it is an array of physical mirrors which can fail individually and cause the effect you are having.
The bulb failing would cause a loss of the entire screen, not just a few points.
I have been told it is the DMD Chip that has went bad. I also have same white dots on my tv. right now I have 10 of them in different places. They are about $153 dollars and then someone to install is around $125. If you figure out how to replace the DMD Chip can you please email me and let me know how at [email protected]
