Re: Broken screen on Averatec 3150HS
Both these sites quote 288$ - http://www.screentekinc.com/search-lcd-screen.shtml?lcds_product=averatec&Submit.x=26&Submit.y=15
You could also try getting a dead 3150 from ebay that has an LCD thats still good and replace them.
Asking around I learnt that replacing the screen is an hours work for a tech, but might be a little tricky for you and I couldn't find info on it.
LCD problems with Averatec seem to be common, so you might want to consider if you feel like getting another one that might break again...
Hope this helps

It usually takes a long time (months) for Windows to kick you off for an invalid key or demo mode. In your case XP must have updated and loaded a Window Authentication update then flagged you with an invalid (pirate) key. You very well might have to re-install the OS.
Does not sound good, the onboard video chip is more than likely fried. all you can do now is try plugging in a external monitor and see if that port still works. You may try replacing the LCD inverter board, but I don't think it will help.
tony, try to shine a flashlight at the screen while it boots and see if you see anything at all. if you do, your backlight has gone out and you will need to replace the lcd screen. if you get nothing try plugging in an external monitor to the port on the side of the laptop, if you get something on it, then you need the lcd replaced. if you get no beeps indicating failed hardware then there is a good chance that your motherboard has a more serious issue if no screens are coming up.
I also found a couple of prices for your the LCD screen. The first one is an ebay auction that actually gives you instructions, too. What's good about this one is that it gives you it specifically for your notebook.
