You press menu and the midle button at the same time and hold down it will reset but it still has the songs on it

Switch the hold button a few times. then press the center and menu button down for like 7-10 secs. and it will power off. then turn back on.

Hitting menu and the center button DOES NOT WORK my nano is haing a problem with not turning off, unless i plug it into my docking station. try that for now

You have to reset the ipod to fix this problem. This WILL NOT disrupt the data on your ipod. to reset your ipod toggle the screen lock swich at the top a few times then hold both menu and the center butten (at the same time) until the apple logo appears

Try doinga reset.switch the hold switch on and off then hold thecenter button for9 seconds it should reset itself

My daughter got a nano for christmas and it soon froze. You can fix it by switching it to 'hold' and press the middle button about 10 times. Keep repeating this process until it turns off. Worked great for me. Hope this helps. Peace.

Hold the menu button and the up button in at same time for 10 second. It will shut off. Then turn it on and it will work like new again.

Ipod nanao 2 gb problem

Have you tried to reset it by holding the middle button as well as the play button in at the same time for about 10 seconds... i had a similar prob but it was due to my hard drive...
