Videos on Cannon PowerShot A710IS time out at 2 min when recording

I have this A710IS and when I take videos (fast frame, standard or comact) the recording stops automatically at about 85 sec or 2 minutes. Camera is on tripod and tried all settings to see if there is a recording length to be set, but can't find it. Can you help me identify if it is a setting or camera problem?
Thanks, Nino

Unfortunately, no. By recording in fast mode, the camera captured fewer frames than usual. When played back at the normal speed, the action appears faster than normal. Because the camera recorded fewer frames, there is no way to make up for the images that were not captured. You could slow down the playback, but the result would be a jerky, jumpy video.
Now, if you had accidentally captured the video in slow motion, you could then throw away some of the intervening frames and recreate a normal-speed video.

I accidently recorded some video using time lapse, is there any way I can restore it to the standard setting?

Sorry, no. The video you recorded is the video you get. There is no way to recreate the scene between the recorded frames.

Hello! I have a Power Shot SD400. I was wondering if there was any way to change the duration/length of the videos you record. On mine I am only allowed to record 1 minute at a time. Is there a way to make...

The camera will only shoot up to one minute in "Fast Frame Rate" mode. You should press the function button and use the left/right buttons to switch it to "Standard". This will allow you to shoot until the card is full.

Viewing my videos

i have good and bad news for you guys. the bad news is that you'll never beable to see those videos in the normal time frame again. but the good news is that there's nothing wrong with your camera. try turning the sd1100 on again in video mode. then press on the function/set button. now just set the capture mode back to standard. you've had it in time lapse. if this doesnt help, then iono.... lol good luck!

Recorded video segment plays back in fast motion. How do i reset

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recordings.
