I am having apple macbook in yahoo messneger when i connect with the other party, my picture freezes (with the last image in the window), but I can see and hear the other person im talking with. They can also still hear me, but with a frozen picture. I hang up every few minutes and call them back until it freezes again

Sorry but your lcd panel needs replacement. Take it to the apple store and see if they'll give you a replacement. If they don't there are third party Macbook Repair services that can fix it for you. There are also free Macbook Repair guide that show you how to fix it yourself. The part is on Ebay.

Do the patterns of distortion change as you are twisting and bending the laptop body? If so, you're dealing with a logic board issue. Probably your GPU is not soldered properly anymore. Twist the Macbook body while turning it on. If that make the image come back, you have a broken logic board. There are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open a Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.

try using the image capture utility when connected to the computer. canons are notorious for forcing you to use image utilities (picture wizard in windows and image capture in macos). my canon xsi did the same thing.

When youre running windows XP on a Macbook, you should install the Bootcamptools from the original Mac OSX Leopard DVD. This installs all the components of your Macbook including graphics, Bluetooth and of course the iSight =)

You should be able to lower the brightness, using the slider below the resolution menu. For longer display and battery life, Apple recommends lowering the threshold.
