I was in the middle of starting my laundry load and i had closed the door of my kenmore 90 series model # 110.4788291 and it suddenly started makin a ticking sound and it had a funny kind of burning smell and it wouldn't work after wards. I emptied the machine and manually drained out the water and turned everything off, and unplugged it, i than later plugged it back in and it wouldnt work, i turned of the fuse and back on again, still wouldn't work. i tried using different cycles and nothing works. No noise nothing. It doesn't work at all, it's obviously broken, but what can the problem be?

the start relay in the control panel is bad,the relays coil is moving this is the click you hear, but the main contacts in the relay are bad there are 4 wires to it 2 for the start switch and 2 for the main contacts
On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.
the door switch is broke.when you push on the paddle of the door switch the lite should go out,if you don't see the paddle it most likely broke off,you need to send the full model number next time,it will start with 110.or similar.the door switch is a safety so the machine won't run until the door is closed,if the switch is broke no power will go to start the dryer
the door should have a sticker where it closes against with model and serial numbers as for the second part ck terminal connection to elements to make sure they are tight next shoot continuity of the elements limit switches thermal fuse elements will be between 9 and 13 ohms others should read 0
