Display does not work on my microwave and my mother-in-law has the same oven and her display does not work. Shouldn't there be a recall on this product? Seems like a lot of people have problems with the display for this mode.

The Time Display does not work on the microwave. Can't read the the display for cooking time. Otherwise microwave works great. I hate to have to throw it out because of this. Can anything be done about it?

ONLY A L SHOWS UP IN THE DISPLAY LED. CAN'T TELL HOW LONG SOMETHING IS COOKING, ITS ONLY 5YRS OLD. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The Display doesn't work on my microwave either. We've already had someone come out and fix it when it was under warranty. They had to be a whole new board in. It's already went out again. To buy this board to fix it cost just as much as a new microwave. I think Sharp should have recalled this product.

i have a sharp R254, the display started to be faulty about 12 months ago.. now the display has gone altogether - other than that the microwave works fine. I am loath to buy a new microwave just because the display doesnt work - but think that the cost of getting it repaired might be almost as much as buying a new one?

Only part of the LED numbers show

  • 1953B Dec 07, 2008

The LED numbers do not fully light up. The control board has been replaced twice.

I wiggled the ribbon cable between the control board and the intermediate circut board. The LCD came back for an instant. I am sure it is this ribbon cable. It looks like it is held on with adhesive. How can it be impossible to repair if people are offering to do it less than 40.00 dollars to fix it? Someone must be selling a replacement ribbon cable that will work.

Unfortunately, Sharp (et al) have seen fit to make these displays a permanent part of the CPU board -- that is, the flex trace ribbon is bonded in such a way as to make repairs practically impossible. Even if you _could_ replace only the LCD module, you can't BUY only the LCD module, you have to buy the entire display/controller assembly.
