Getting oil in the tub and on clothes
Replace spin belt

It is likely to be the transmission but you should be able to tell for sure by putting clean paper under it to determine where the oil is coming from. in case transmission in truely the problem, getting it fixed should be relativly easy, but it also depends on the exact model (I dont know this specific model unfortunatly). if you are not very handy, it might give you some trouble, plus it isnt cheap at all, so if it is a cheap washer, I would get a new one. anyways, if you still wanna do it by yourself, and you made sure this is a transmision thing, you can buy a new part (make sure you get a repair manual with it). good luck

SOURCE: Amana washer "goo" on clothes?
Ann, these Amana's are the mother of all washers to change out the seal and bearings. It's possible you just have a lot of gunk built up on the inside of the basket from years of washing. I would not put a cent into it. You are better off getting a new direct drive washer. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: won't drain or spin
Sounds like the lid switch which is only about 30.00 to fix if you do it yourself. It's a little difficult but it's much better than replacing or having someone come in and do it

SOURCE: Amana washing machine makes loud noice when trying to spin
sounds like you are dealing with the same problem as me .
take off the front panel (after unplugging power) take a flash lite and look at the large pulley at the back just below the pulley is the helix check to see if they are worn .
