Brother MFC-210c printer

My printer will not let my answering machine answer calls when it is on. It will go to fax after three or four rings.

Check the basic settings for your printer to see if they offer 'manual' pickup of the line instead of only the number of rings. I've had the same problem years ago and had to set the fax machine for 6 rings, answering machine for 4 to allow me time to pick up the phone in case I was present. You should be able to find complementary settings with your two devices.

My brother mfc 4800 wont copy, it keeps asking for the fax number. Please help

Your fax machine uses the same line as your phone. You will need to read your manual to decide after how many rings you want the fax machine to answer. Generally should be after your answering machine. Your fax number will be your telephone number.Hope It's resolve all Your Printer Problem,

Won't fax

You have to get your answering machine and your fax to play nice. Read the instructions for both. I think I have my answering machine to pickup at three rings, and the fax to pick up at five. Don't have the fax answer first. Don't have both machines answering at the same number of rings.

Dual line, one for phone, one for fax but

define stand alone: if u want it to have its own line, you'll need to either set up a seperate line from the phone box to the fax machine (through the phone company) OR get a distinctive ring for the phone (phone rings from the Telephone company can be rung in a variety of ways, not just the standard "two longs"- by varying the rings to the office AND by having the fax machine listen for its distinctive ring and having it answer only that.

hope that helps.

How to receive faxes automatically

First this is a good machine, I use the same one and have my fax setup for the same thing. If you have a (TAD) Telephone Answering Device first you have to set up your phone to pick up before the fax, do this by setting the phone to pick up on three rings and the fax to pick up on four. Go to Menu/Fax/Setup Receive/Ring Delay. While there make sure Easy Receive is on. The machine itself will distinguish between regular calls and facsimiles and will display this info at the time of the call on its LCD screen, make sure you are using the line connection and not the phone connection. Hope this helped.

Brother MFC8840D only 4 rings before fax pickup?

The TAD (TELPHONE ANSWERING DEVICE) must answer within four rings (the recommended setting is two rings). The MFC cannot hear CNG tones until the TAD has answered the call, and with four rings there are only 8 to 10 seconds of CNG tones left for the fax ?handshake?. message. do not recommend using the toll saver feature on your external answering machine if it exceeds five rings.

Set up to receive fax

It does not matter, it should wake up as soon as a fax is coming in, the problem is most likely that the fax set-up was improperly done. There should be a setting to tell it when to pick up, after two, three or four rings, if you have an answering machine, time date. Those need to be set-up for it to work.
