Is there a way to bypass the disposal to be able to use the sink w/o the water dripping from the bottom of the Badger 5 disposal?

If disposal is leaking, it has to be removed before it damages cabinet and causes mildew.
Then install a different strainer basket if you want to connect tubular drain.

You can also buy same brand and size disposal and install without changing sink basket.

I have the Badger 5 in sink erator under sink food disposer and it is leaking from a small on the bottom of the unit. How can I repair the unit?

Disposal is rusted out and needs to be replaced.
If you plug the hole, the motor compartment will fill with water and short out the electric.

My badger 5 disposal is leaking from the side whats wrong

Check where leak is coming from.
1) Run water until leak starts. Use dry paper towel near top of disposal to see if sink strainer is leaking.
2) Move paper towel down and check where dishwasher connects to disposal.
3) Move paper towel down to tubular drain tailpiece.

4) Water should run down side of disposal if sink strainer, dishwasher connection or tailpiece are leaking. You can fix these problems using tips below.

5) If disposal is rusted out, then water will leak out of bottom or side of disposal body.
There are no repairs or repair parts for disposals.

My sink erator badger 5 is leaking at the bottom, should I replace it or try and stop the the leaking.

mine was leaking from bottom, dripping off power cord...pulled it apart..the pan that separates the water and food from the electric motor was developing pin holes from corrosion...I dont know that you can get this part...was thinking about tacking a small weld...but best off getting a new one...I am sure it has served...

Drips from bottom of Inskerator Badger 5

Hi,
Obviously you didn't like what I answered you before, but if that is not the case and the leak is infact coming out of the bottom of the disposal then you are really not going to like the bad news I have for you now...
I had to remove a disposal today to fix a sink that is exactly like yours, so I took a close look at it an the bottom line is that if you are getting water out of the motor then you have a seal leaking where the motor shaft goes into the grinder part.
From what I can see on from this exploded diagram that is not even repairable and the part you would need is not available.....
So... it looks like you need to look for a new one... or check to see if you have had it less then two years...they do have a two in home warranty...

sorry I can't give you better news...

Water leaks from two locations on my Badger 5, 1/2 hp disposal

These holes are probably due to wear, as they are at about the level of the cutter. In general, residential disposals are not repairable and once they begin to leak, they must be replaced. The Badger series is Insinkerator's budget line and probably has about a 5 year lifespan with normal use.
