What was the original os on it ?
Do you know the video hardware chip/card name ?

Since this laptop is not a newer laptop, and it is a Japan laptop, it is not easy to locate the original driver.

If you can provide the details info of the VGA component, then we can locate the same component from other brand name laptop (probably driver from HP or Dell will work). You can do this to get the details info:
Control Panel, System, Device Manager, [Component Name], [VGA], [Right click], Properties, Details tab, Property pull down; chose Hardware Ids and write down the VEN and the DEV sections in the Value's box (including the VEN and the DEV words)

I can only give you a link where you can download necessary drivers, updates/firmwares or original drivers that comes with this unit. It depends on what operating system you are currently using.
If you then upgrade your operating system for example from windows vista to windows 7, then suddenly some hardware including sounds, lancard, vga experienced some troubles, I do suggest you downgrade again your operating system or find appropriate compatible drivers that will work for your new operating system.

As it sits right now, it looks like you have to downgrade to XP, since Sony is not posting Vista drivers for that model. I would email their support department and ask them if you can have access to the drivers, since you have already upgraded.

If I were them, I would post the drivers, but say they won't support any upgrades, rather than not making the drivers available, unless of course sony hasn't written any drivers, which is entirely possible.
