The display is an LCD. From your limited description, it would appear that, electronically, at least, everything is working correctly, but perhaps the LCD has become warped or damaged.
Yamaha has a parts order website, but you would need to create an account to actually order the part, AND you would need to know the part number of the LCD. Not only that, but you would have to perform the repair yourself - - - not recommended, unless you're an electronics geek already. ~LOL~ But if you want to take a look, here is their parts web site:
https://www.yamaha24x7.com/yamahaoms/Login.aspxI'm assuming you're in the U.S.A. If you really wish to talk to Yamaha
about the part, they do have a number you can call:
(888)892-6242
Prior to making the call, be sure to write down the
model# and
serial#
of your keyboard. It is probably found on the back or under side of the
unit. They will advise you on the availability of the part.
Another alternative is to go on Ebay and search for
PSR-S500 under the category Musical Instruments.
You can locate an authorized Yamaha dealer at this web site:
http://usa.yamaha.com/dealersProblems like this are a REAL PAIN in the you know what, and I know how aggravating it is to have to spend money on a repair for an instrument you've already paid over $500 for. I'm assuming this is an out-of-warranty situation.
Anyhow, good luck on getting this fixed, and let us know how things work out.
Thanks ~Jim :-)
