You have to purchase an unlock code for samsung wave gt s8500 to get unlocked. You wont get free unlock code for samsung like nokia and other phones. You can purchase the unlock code from here
Select your country and service provider then buy the lock code.

Ok, in that case resetting the Samsung Wave will solve the problem, follow these steps;
- Remove the sim
- type *2767*3855# and enter/ call.
- restart the mobile.
But you will lose all your datas like contact messages etc..

no your help is no good, i dont think you understood my problem.
my phone is already unlocked so i can use any network.
The problem is that i have forgotten my phone security password
no you can not reset the samsung wave as you can not enter the code either,
you have to enter the password first as you have no other access to the phone.
when you turn phone on, the phone ask for the password.
the phone password is 4 to 8 digits it will not accept # or * symbols i have tried the
*2767*3855# already before i came to this site , contacted samsung who said i have to
take it to their service center to be fixed which is over 400 kilometers away. I will have to send it to them ,I was hoping this fixya site would of given me another option.
the sim is not locked the phone is
have already look at the utube segment
have already removed sim card
the phone asks for phone password not sim password
and no other screen other than phone password is displayed
you can not get into any of the menu settings at all
you cannot get past the phone password display
you turn phone off then back on and it goes straight to phone pasword display.
