Try going to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices Click on Voice Tab and make sure the proper device is selected. Click on Volume and make sure levels are appropriate. Lastly, click on Test Hardware and wait until you can speak into the mic to see the voice levels. If you can see the voice levels, then your mic probably works and it is just an issue of configing the COD settings. goodl luck

Your headphones might also be muted. If you press both the + and - volume buttons at the same time it mutes the mic.

Hi, can anyone please help me by explaining which settings I need to enable the following?: To be able to speak & hear via the Logitech headset, but also the desktop speakers to work so that I can hear any Skype calls. The headset did work properly but I changed settings, now DT speakers ring, microphone works but can only hear via DS speakers. Please help??? Lambchop

I had a similar problem using my DSP-500. It turned out that the wiring for the microphone had been severed. The folding mechanism that lets you tuck away the microphone into the headset had caught the wire, and eventually cut through most of it. And the wire is not easy to repair. In construction, the wire is very similar to the ones used on the AC adapters for Apple Powerbook G4's that supply Direct Current. Strands of insulated wire are underneath more insulated strands of wire. One set of wires is (+) while the other is (-). It's kind of like the Russian doll of wiring designs. I repaired the wire in my headset, but I'm sure there is a more efficient way of doing it than my method. Good luck.
