My 5th gen 30GB video ipod is not recognized on my PC and itunes, it only turns on and plays music when plugged to an adapter, when removed from the adapter it goes blank. If connected to a USB port it displays"please wait very low battery" . So i decided to reset and to put it on disk mode, after several trials, I eventually put it on disk mode, when connected to my PC, the "please wait very low battery returns" . This is really frustrating, I've been up all night trying to solve this mess, yet no hope. Can anyone help me?

Absolutely, I have this myself. My 5th Gen works great, but the 160GB would not show movies, just played music. Apple has an adapter cable set that allows you to hook your Ipod to your TV. $50 buy it! You can charge and watch your stuff on your flat screen. It also unlocks your Ipod TV out setting for your Video 55. Set you IPOD video setting to TV Out: on, select your movie and play. Plug in the IPOD nip to your Ipod then set your Ipod into the Video 55. A bit of a pain but works flawlessly. If you select a different movie you have to do this all over again.
put your ipod in disk mode by following these steps. press and hold the Menu and Center buttons on the clickwheel. when you see the apple appear, switch your fingers to the center and play/pause buttons. whena check mark appears plug it into you computer and it should detect and mount. add music and have fun.
Try this: turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into
itunes while still holding the home button until a picture of the itunes symbol
appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore
mode". This will completely reset your ipod, hopefully fixing any bugs or problems in it. also, you will lose all data saved on the ipod that isn't also backed up by itunes. Music, pictures, and video can be re-synced.
do you have an AC charger? plug it into AC charger and then connect it to the computer. it happened to me to with my toshiba mes30v 30gb mp3 player. when i connected it to the pc with the player powered by AC charger, it worked fine =D hope that helps
You should try using a different USB cable as it's very possible the cable is damaged. If that's not the problem, the logic board is probably defective and you can either replace it if you're comfortable enough opening your iPod or sell the iPod listing the defects on eBay.
