Epiphone Les Paul Special II Guitar Electric Logo

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and it's pretty new and has worked great until now. It seems my bridge pickup lost tone and volume for some reason. My volume and tone knobs are cranked and my amp is on overdrive, but whenever I switch to my bridge pickup it sounds very quiet, almost like it's on clean instead of overdrive. Any ideas?

Need more info: 1- does the volume control still change the level? 2-Does tone control still change the tone? 3- What happens when in the center position on pickup select switch? Put pickup switch in center position (both pickups active). Then take a coin and tap on the pickups. Does bridge pickup sound lower? Lastly remove rear electronics cover and inspect all wiring for something loose or disconnected.

What Epiphone model did I purchase?

Sounds like perhaps a Les Paul Special II, but more detail is needed to say for sure. There was a lot of variation in their Les Paul models. Posting a photo of both sides and the headstock is best.

-Has the guitar any binding, and what colour?
-Is the back of the guitar white or all black?
-Exactly what is on the front of the headstock, 'Epiphone', the 4-diamond logo, anything else?

Which knob does what on the epiphone les paul studio? there are 4 knobs and the only one i can figure out is volume.

I believe the top front is volume for the front/neck pickup...the top rear is for the rear/bridge pickup and the other two are tone knobs for the front and rear pickups.

How do i choice to buy a custom epiphone les paul

If you are on a limited budget then get a standard Epiphone Les Paul. The Custom is not much better. If you have a little more to spend then I recommend getting a new or used Gibson Les Paul Studio.

Narrowing down which guitar to buy is completely opinion-based. You need to try multiple guitars to find one you like best since they all feel a little different.

Les paul making wierd noises

Unless you are wanting to use the Nanomag, I'd just get it taken out of the signal. You should be able to bypass it anyways.

Epiphone Black Beauty controls don't seem to work properly

The volume is a common problem ... Search for wiring diagrams for your guitar to find a better wiring. Or take it to a guitar repair centre to have it fixed.

To tell which pickups are selected with the switch if it doesn't have the little plate telling you, Turn one volume down and flick the switch one way so you can hear just one pickup.

Two ways of telling which one it is picking up ... A toppy tone is the one nearest the bridge ... a bassy tone is the neck pickup ... The middle selection on the switch is both coils selected ... If you cant tell by tone ... Tap the pick up and you'll soon hear which one you have selected.

Great guitar, **** elrctronics. want to put '57 gibson classics

You wont need new tone caps and the wiring will not need to be replaced even if you are installing new pickups.

HELP!

This is exactly how any 2 pickup, 2 volume, 2 tone, three way switch guitar would be wired from the factory. Best of luck!

Low volume on front pickup of Epiphone Les Paul

i have an old sg, and this happened to me too. the repair guy told me that inside the p/u, the windings were broken, resulting in a lower output. go on e-bay, and look up a neck pos. humbucker. there everywhere. or do yourself a favor, and do what i did. i have an epi. flying v, and epi. les paul. on e-bay, i bought gibson 57 classics. i put these in both my guitars, and i now have great sounding guitars. you will not belive the difference. good luck, scott

Epiphone volume and tone controls

The controls should be setup in pairs (as long as the electronics haven't been modified. The two closest to the pickups are the volumes and the other two are the tone controls. The top knob set should be your neck pickup and the bottom set is for the bridge.

Schematics and wiring diagram for the typical les paul (sheraton) controls:
