It is sold with an dapator that powers the calculator through the USB port. Use it and you will eliminate any doubt about the batteries. Try resetting the calculator.
dapator= adaptor
Thanks for the reply! The adapter you are talking about,is it a normal usb to mini-usb cable because i tried connecting the calculator with that cable to a computer, but nothing happened... I also tried restting it using the button at the back and using the ON + F1 + F3 combination, but no luck.
The calculator can be used without the main batteries because the adaptaor that was sold with it can power the calculator through its USB port. Other HP calculators with mini USB ports (such as the HP 49G+) imperatively require batteries.
I believe you should be able to power it through the USB port of a computer: The U in USB means Universal.
There is a buit in testing procedure you can run. HOLD down the ON key then press the F4 key. Release the F4 key then release the ON key. Several choices are offered. To exit the testing hold down the ON key then press the F3 key. Release the F3 key thaen the ON key. The calculator will restart.

Thanks for the reply ! It is actually the calculator of my friend and she doesn't have that adapter anymore... *sigh* I tried connecting the calculator with a normal usb cable (usb to mini usb) but that didn't help also. The adapter that you're talking about is it just a normal usb cable like i used ? I also tried resetting it using the button at the back and the ON + F1 + F3 combination. No luck.
