Use a can of air from Best Buy or any store that sells computer accessories. Spray the fan to get all the dirt out, while your at it you might as well blow the dirt out the whole system case. If that doesn't work then the fan is probebly going bad. There are many websites that sell fans, just do a search on Computer Case Fans and you should have a big veriety to choose from.

Hp monitor 2031s does not scan signal from gateway gt5432...

Go back to Dell monitor. Remove any video drivers from hp.change video resolution both in windows and in video card settings to standard 1024 x 768 (yes it will look horrible) then hook up hp monitor. Don't install drivers if prompted get them from hp website then adjust resolution through video card settings after drivers installed which probably require restart.

Fan noise Gateway EC1440u

Normally, when a fan starts making a lot of noise, especially at start up, it is because they are clogged with dust and are having a hard time getting up to speed or a bearing is failing.

My gateway is making a rattling sound at start up which last about 15 minutes, them seems to run quite after that.....any ideas ?

It is most likely a fan that is making the noise. It's possible that one of the fans is going bad and needs to be replaced. But sometimes fans will make noise if there is a lot of dust inside the case. You could try opening the case and using one of those compressed air cans to carefully blow the dust out. You can get them for a few dollars at any office supply store.
If you're comfortable opening up the case and replacing a fan, it's not too hard to do once you figure out which fan is making the noise. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, take it in to a shop and get them to do it for you. It shouldn't cost much.
Right now, it sounds like maybe the fan is having trouble getting started and then when it gets quiet, it's either because the fan settles down and starts running or maybe because it just stops working after trying for a few minutes. Either way, I'd get it taken care of because you don't want it getting too hot inside the case.

My gateway model gx70183 will not power on or off. Fan was making a lot of noise and the computer quit

hi there, there is already problem on fan, noise of fans could develop overload current on system and this system is protected by overload protection,it will trip off of your cpu.replace fan where ever it was located, there is fans on Power supply unit(PSU) ,also in processor, also in video card,On PSU you can replace PSU,try to find another PC which is not use,use temporary the power supply to check if ignore the tripping of your pc.Also clean the terminals of your memory card by eraser head of pencil, also with the video card.have a nice day, dont forget to fix my rate, thanks a lot.

The fan in modem makes loud noises at times

Modems don't have fans.
I think you mean your fan in the computer makes a loud noise. Some computers have settings where the fan speeds up if you are doing a lot of things--making the computer work harder.
Some fans make noise just before they fail. Depends on the type of noise. If it's a sound that has a lot of rattling in it or maybe a high screeching sound, I'm thinking you'll be needing a new fan. Probably a CPU fan is the culprit. Also, fans on video cards often go bad--so you'll have to open the case and listen to where the sound comes from.

Lap top fan making a lot of noise

Check places like TigerDirect.com or Newegg.com. They have high quality laptop cooling fans & should be able to help you find one that is better than the stock fan at a better price. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Loud noise

Typical problem in most computers, the fan is experiencing a "burn out." This means there is either something caught in the fan causing it to create noise, or the motor is going bad. there are two fixes for this problem.
1) open you computer's case according to its manual and remove the system cooling fan and give it a thorough cleaning.
2) you may need to replace the cooling fan with its recommended replacement model.

Hope this helps!
