Unable to delete folders in my ipaq

I downloaded programs onto my ipaq and for some reason the documents will not open. So I decided to just delete those files, but I get a message that states that I must empty files before deleting them. Now how do I do that?

Try a clean uninstall reinstall of Yahoo messenger.
Assuming that your Operating system is Windows XP. First go to Start>Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs

Traveling through Colorado and it can't find a satellite for the last 45 minutes. Using it in a semi truck

This issue might occur due to the QuickGPSFix data or the application on the device being corrupted.

To correct the issue, we will need to clear the Download, Ephem and Empheris folder contents.

The 'Downloads' folder will now need to be cleared. The steps to perform this are listed below:

1) Click 'Start' and go to 'My Documents'.

2) In 'My Documents' there is going to be a TomTom folder, open this.

3) There should now be a HOME folder, open this.

4) There will now be a 'From Device' folder, delete this entire folder.

5) Once this folder is deleted, open the 'Downloads' folder and delete everything inside of it.

Now let us delete the Ephemeris folder contents from the computer first, since it saves the GPSFix information. If this information is corrupted, it can prevent the device from acquiring the satellite signals and locking onto them.

To do so:

1. Unplug the TomTom device from computer (if connected).

2. Fully Exit TomTom HOME.

3. Locate the "Ephemeris" folder in the following location on your computer:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete

Windows Vista: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete

Macintosh: Macintosh HD/<username>/Documents/TomTom/HOME/Download/complete

4. Select all the contents of ephemeris folder and delete them.

Close that window and connect the TomTom device to the computer. Then open [My Computer] and double click on TomTom Drive icon to open. Delete the contents of Ephem folder. This should delete the contents of GPSFix from the device as well.

You can then update the device to download the latest device updates, which will automatically include the QuickGPSFix update. Hence forth the device should detect the GPS signals correctly

Unable to open word document attachment in e-mail. Shows a square with numbers inside.

If you're seeing a little square with numbers inside (probably 1's and 0's) that file isn't a Word document at all, it is a BINARY file, an executable program, probably a virus or trojan.

Test the file with your anti-virus program, or better yet, simply DELETE it. Since you don't know what program it is, there is no reason to open it and risk damaging your system.

I can't delete ArcSoft software from my add/remove area

I'll tell you, but you're going to have to go the long way. Best method I'm aware of.

Plus I suggest you download CCleaner. CCleaner is a free registry cleaner. (Don't let the fact that it is free, dissuade you one bit! It's a better registry cleaner program than the PAID for one's are! )

After you delete a program there are 'tidbits' left behind. Fragmented files. These take up space also, and in essence are just junk. Like having partial pages torn out of a book. A registry cleaner rids you of them.

This is information about CCleaner from Wikipedia.org,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCleaner

After you view the information, and wish to download CCleaner, simply go to the right of the page, under the illustration, and click on the website address.
After you download CCleaner, come back if you wish, and I'll explain the easy way of how to run the program.

Long way of deleting a program, but assurance that it will be gone. (After using CCleaner also)

Windows XP Home running, Left-click on Start.
Hover your mouse cursor on All Programs, go up to Accessories, over and down to Windows Explorer, and click on it. (This isn't Internet Explorer, in case you are not familiar with Windows Explorer)

After Windows Explorer has loaded, go up to the top header. Left-click on Tools. Now on Folder Options in the drop down list. Finally Left-click on the View tab.

In the list, go down to where there is a yellow folder with - Hidden files and folders - to the right of it.

Below this you will see an empty circle, and to the right of it - Show hidden files and folders
Left-click once in this box.

Now go below to the right, and Left-click on Apply. Finally go down to the left, and click on OK.

After you do this a Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up. "Warning you are.........."
It's okay. Click on OK if present.
The reason this warning box comes up is that a user can delete necessary Windows files, IF, they do not know what they are doing.

I'm not going to guide you towards destructing your Windows operating system, rest assured. We are not going anywhere near Windows files. Just the ArcSoft program file that's about to hit the trashcan.

When you open Windows Explorer, the default setting is to automatically open your My Documents folder. You can see a negative sign ( - ) next to My Documents in the 'file tree' to the left, and the contents of your My Documents folder to the right.

I like to close the file tree for My Documents. Less clutter, and less chance of getting confused.

If you are of the same mind, go up to the - sign next to My Documents, and Left-click right on the - sign. It will turn into a + sign, and close that part of the file tree.

Now Left-click on the + sign next to,

1.My Computer
2.Then - Local Disk (C:)
3.Now scroll down to - Program Files

Scroll through these programs. See ArcSoft? Left-click on the ArcSoft name. The individual folders and files will appear on the right, in the large window.

Now double-click on a Folder. The folder will open, and display individual files. Right-click on a File, then in the drop down menu, Left-click on Delete.

You may not be able to delete the entire folder for ArcSoft, (Too large for Recycle Bin), but you can delete individual files, until the folders are empty 'husks'.
Then you can use the Back arrow at the upper left, and Right-click on the folder/s. Delete them.

You may come to a file that has an extension - .dll
You may not be able to delete this type of file. It's okay. After you shut down your computer, wait 1 minute, come back into Windows Explorer, and try it again.

Finally use CCleaner, and get rid of the file fragments.

I know this is long, and I apologize in advance. has worked for me to delete stubborn programs for years. (Norton, AOL, and others)

Has worked better than using the Uninstall feature, if the program comes with one, and any Uninstall option listed on the Internet for a program.

Have questions? I'm all ears.

On IPAQ hx2700, how do I do a hard reset? I want

Performing a Hard Reset

Perform a hard reset only when you want to clear all
user-installed settings, applications, and data from RAM
(Random Access Memory), where data and applications you have
loaded are stored.

CAUTION: If you perform a hard reset, your Pocket PC loses all data
and programs not saved in iPAQ File Store.

To perform a hard reset:

1. Press and hold down the Calendar and iTask buttons.
2. While holding down these buttons, use the stylus to
lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the iPAQ
Pocket PC for about two seconds.
3. When the Pocket PC screen begins to fade, release the
Calendar and iTask buttons first, and then remove the stylus
from the Reset button.

Note: If you simultaneously push and hold the Reset, Calendar,
and iTask buttons for more than two seconds, the battery
disconnects. To restart the device, either plug the device into the
AC Adapter or press the Reset button again.
After performing a hard reset, you may need to reinstall
applications stored in iPAQ File Store to restore shortcuts and full
functionality.

4. The Pocket PC resets and powers on.

To return your iPAQ Pocket PC to factory settings after
performing a hard reset:

1. Tap Start > Programs > File Explorer > My Device.
2. Tap the iPAQ File Store folder to open it.
3. Tap Edit > Select All.
4. Tap and hold the selected files, then tap Delete.
5. Tap Yes to delete all file in iPAQ File Store.

IPAQ file store problem

You're not alone! Virtually every ipaq rx3715 gets this problem at one time or another. Unfortunately, it is a massive memory issue. Be prepared to potentially lose all of your data, including programs. My suggestion would be to back up your ipaq before you do this. I do not know if the backup retains the memory error, but what I would do is back it up, perform the fix, and then restore the data back onto the ipaq. If your file store problem is fixed, there you go! If the problem comes back upon restoring the pocket pc, then unfortunately you will lose all data and programs in order to fix the memory, and that will be a personal choice. For most of us, the ipaq simply freezes up upon entry into the file store, so consider yourself lucky that they simply do not delete.

Here is the step-by-step process of how to fix your problem.

1. Download GER and ENG ROMs (latest) from HP's support site
2. Unpack both
3. Cancel the automatic flash procedure.
4. Locate the EnterBootLoader.exe file in the folder of the unpacked GER update
5. Copy it to PPC
6. Run it from the PPC
7. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file from the desktop to start flash procedure.
Then you have a German-language PPC
8. Locate the EnterBootLoader.exe file in the folder of the unpacked ENG update
9. Repeat steps 5-7 for the English update
You're done

Remember, you're not alone! We all had the same problem.

Storage Memory

memory card isn't really memory it's more like a disk drive. it's not like when you add memory to a PC and the new memory is automatically used. To make use of this card you need to transfer some of your larger files to the card.... You can move files from within the ipaq... Click and hold on file. Select Copy Click and hold Select Cut Navigate with File Explorer to the SD card.... Open File Explorer Select My device Now select SD Card You can create a new folder or select an existing folder Click on Edit at bottom of screeen. Select Paste. You can also move files directly from PC to Storage card...... While IPAQ is connected, go to My Computer, then double-click on Mobile Device, then double-click on Pocket PC. Now you will see your Storage Card, and you can use this just like a folder on your PC. You can create folders within it. You can click and drag files to it or to any of it's folders.
