My china tv horezantal transister heatup

Hello
If horizontal output transistor heats up rapidly within seconds after the TV is switched on, surely there is some fault in the horizontal output section. It may be either with deflection yoke or horizontal output transformer. Deflection yoke fault is very rare, about 1% or so. but the horizontal output transformer fault is common. The winding in the horizontal output trnsformer, otherwise called as line output trnasformer [LOT] also. can be shorted inside it, and is irrepairable. It should be replaced with same type and number. Number and type is mor important, and should be insist on. Replace the horizontal output transformer. OK.

When we turned on our large screen panasonic tv there was a pop, then no sound. The picture is fine. It is several years old. Not a flatscreen. Large speaker at the bottom.

It sounds like the power transister for the amplifier has blown. Inside, it is usually the largest transister connected directly to a heat sink. It will require the ability to solder (and unsolder) in order to affect the repair. Look up the transister from its code inscribed on the case to find a replacement. Power transisters are usually not very expensive. You can go to this link to see what a typical power transistor looks like.

No Picture

Rarely picture tube also shows the same symptom. High pitch sound is due to through deflection area LOT power supply is loaded. Compulsary horizontal output transister short. From your statement i think Lot puncture takes place. Change LOT and horizontal output transister and check tv is now working.

Chirping is usually a problem in 2 areas of this unit. 1st check 3 legged regultor on the right side of the chassis, also 2 small transisters and 2 resisters near and in front of the regulator. RCA has a kit for this problem, the second is check the horizontal output transister is on a separate heat sink along side of the Flyback Transformer, it shorts and pulls down the regulator power supply.

Tv not powering up

What voltage is present at the collector of the horizontal output transister? If the same 102 volts then you have no horizontal drive.
