I have a P1110...and I have the brightness turned all the way down, and the contrast all the way up, (only way the screen looks close to correct).
Black looks grey...and I can adjust it any further down... is there a Main adjustment inside to turn the brightness down any further?
Other that the brightness, It works great...
Can Someone help me??

hi, Go to menu and then select main. then select reset and execute it.After that try to adjust the brightness and contrast. Remember on thing, in some projectors the brightens and contrast will be active when there is video signal. also try that. ok
Most laptops adjust brightness and contrast using the function key. Pressing and holding the function key ("Fn") and press the up or down arrow keys to increase and decrease the brightness. You can determine the
keys brightness or contrast by looking for keys on the keyboard
that have pictures of a sun or a half moon.
There is a brightness setting on your keyboard on ours it is Fn F6 to turn down the brightness. Just look for a sille "sun" symbol with a downward triangle symbalizing down. Try this and get back to me if it does not fix the problem we can try something else
If the backlight lights up for a second it's probably fine - It lay odds on the display inverter in the screen. Actually finding parts for anything made by gateway may be difficult, however. They do not sell spare parts. Considering the size of the LCD i bet it would almost exceed the replacement cost of the screen to repair it
The part where you see some color bars and blinking green led is what we call MONITOR SELF TEST. A diagnostic pattern consisting of four colors (red, green, blue and white) appears, and the LED flashes slowly. this happens when signal cable from the monitor is disconnected from the tower and leaving the power chord for the monitor plugged in. If the monitor works properly on a different computer. then its a problem with the computer's video card sending out signal. im 85% sure that its a problem with your video card.
There is no yellow tube my freind, only a red, blue, and a green one. If its too bright, have you tried to turn down the black level yet or brightmess, and also the contrast. On these sets you don't need to have the brightness up way high, as the contrast does this. If, when you turn down the brightness, and the picture looks dull, you may need to clean off the mirrors, and or the lens for the picture tubes. If that does not help, there could be a problem in the screen drive circuit or the high voltage block. Good Luck
